After going through 100s of products available online, I went for this as it had a decent rating and more importantly was not magnet based. Though the manufacturers claim that the magnet based holders do not damage the phone, expert opinion points at least the compass in the phone being affected (and the main purpose of me using the holder would be to use while viewing maps - with a defective compass that would not be possible). Installation: very very easy to install. Has two locking options based on the size of the air vent. There is a nut on the backside using which one can adjust how easy/hard it should be to change the angle. I like mine to be fixee and it works fine. Grip: is good and over normal city driving in Bangalore (meaning a lot of potholes and bad roads), the phone was held firmly. The cushion in the holder helps. One push release makes it very easy to use. Only con so far is that there is a slight rattle in the car after fixing it. Need to check if I can eliminate this somehow.

This is a good product, but could be better with the following points so that's why I am rating it 3-stars. First - it fits on the AC vent and covers the AC. It creates two problems - one, the flow of AC air gets disturbed and two, the phone itself gets direct cold AC air which may damage it. The manufacturing is great, as it allows the expansion of the holder horizontally. Due to its cover, the holder also protects the phone partially from directly getting AC air. However, this expansion is only horizontally. If it can be additionally made vertically also, it will help cover the whole phone and prevent from the phone facing direct cold AC air. Additionally, the alignment can be changed so that the phone instead of getting placed directly in front of the AC, it gets mounted ABOVE the AC vent and prevent it from blocking AC air. That will be the best fit for this phone holder.

Limited Rotation While it claims to offer 360-degree rotation, the movement is restricted and not smooth. Adjusting the angle was a hassle, and I often found myself struggling to get the right position without it falling out. Build Quality The overall build quality feels cheap. After just a few uses, I noticed some wear and tear, which raises concerns about its long-term durability. Overall I would not recommend the Portronics CLAMP X Car-Vent Mobile Holder. The combination of poor stability, difficult installation, and subpar build quality makes it a frustrating purchase. There are certainly better options available that offer reliability and ease of use.

I was thinking of buying a dashboard mobile holder as there were many sellers offering the same. However, a friend of mine suggested I buy this brand of car vent holder as he had a bad experience with the dashboard ones. After seeing the Portronics X car vent mobile holder installed in his vehicle and getting a very positive response from him, I decided to purchase this brand . The finish is good and so is the quality. It does not have too many joints that tend to vibrate and loosen due to vibration. This holder is reasonably priced. I am happy with the purchase.
