Quality material at an affordable price for the Takstar SGC-598
This dead cat does the job at isolating audio in windy or fast-moving situations as it fit very snugly over my Takstar SGC-598. As was suggested in the comments, it will fit better when placed over the foam muff that comes with the Takstar. It feels like quality material with uniform spread of fur and very few stragglers. My only complaint is that once on the black foam muff of the Takstar, it fits so snugly that it can be difficult to remove this dead cat separately from the black foam because there is some elastic tension at the opening of this dead cat, risking tearing the black Takstar foam muff.Overall, if you don't see yourself removing this dead cat often then this is perfect in fit, function, and quality. It can still even fit in the Takstar carry-bag for storage.

I have used this product often with my backup mic(Rode Video Mic) When I need a longer mic and filming outside, this product works fine. You can really hear the difference between with the "dead cat" on/off. I like some wind noise if I am interviewing someone for a natural sound, but the wind in the Midwest is bipolar so you are safe with it on.. The reason why I gave it 4 stars because it smells bad. I left it outside in the sun which dampened the odor but it still has a funky smell. BUT, it sounds really good. on the Old Rode Video Mic that I kinda of forgotten about. On a side note, the Video Mic gets a bad rap for introducing some Hiss in your recordings. It's not the mic, your preamp in your camera sucks. Take note

This thing is HUGE. I'm using it on my Takstar shotgon mic and there's a good inch gap at the end. If tilted down, it'd fall off. Had to roll in the sleeve quite and bit and leave the foam cover on the mic for it to fit properly.Aside from that, you can use this in a tornado, wind won't be getting through this. Used it on a windy day yesterday with a +10db gain and audio came out great. There was a TAD muffle, due to having both deadcat and foam on it...but nothing to be concerned about.I have it ontop of a Panasonic G85 Mirrorless camera, and it literally looks like there's a cat laying ontop of it. The kids like to pet it :)

Tip on fitting to Rode NTG2 - use the foam too!
The windscreen itself is far to large to fit without slipping off. But, the trick is, use this one in conjunction with the stock Rode foam windscreen. That's a tight fit and takes a bit of effort to install, but they fit well together and won't slip off. What's more, the two different materials work together to enhance the effectiveness of the system for additional wind immunity. This is the same idea used in more expensive systems that use two different materials. Shure did this 30 years ago with the AWS81 which is made of a small open-cell outer foam with a much larger open-cell material inside.

Cuts my room reflections in studio
Using it on my AT897 that I use in studio for voiceover endeavors. I was getting too much room reflection (echo) in some of my previous recordings so decided to go to a shotgun mic to see if the focused directionality would help which it did some extent but wanted to take it a step further than just the foam windscreen so I bought this and it works like a charm! It fits the mic perfectly, although I am just slipping it over the mic and not the foam sindscreen as pictured. It would probably slip off in the field but on a boom mount hanging sideways it's fine. Doesn't seem to negatively impact the sound definition of the recording (e.g. not muddy or muffled in any way even for the audiocentric voiceover work).

cons for my Mic it is super lose and I can't get a tight fit
Got this for my trakstar mic. Pros. Does block loads of wind, and is made to last, if I do upgrade my Mic it is big and flexible enough to fit on a wide rang of mics, cons for my Mic it is super lose and I can't get a tight fit, so I had to use foam and rubber bands to make it snug and stay on, without those mods it falls off easy and wobbles a lot ruining the sound, but from what I've done it works amazing now, not worrying about any more wind!.

Great value
Works well, didn’t fit my mic Fotga SGC-598 Interview Microphone Mic for Canon Nikon 5DII III 7D D800 D7000 DSLR Camera DV without the foam padding also being on the mic, a way to tighten the muff would have been a nice feature. Worked well in normal to moderate wind conditions, have yet to test in heavy winds. No impact to sound quality of the mic.Overall happy with the muff, it does the job for what it is intended. Too tight for videomic pro and pro plus
Material seems of decent quality. No shedding. However I purchased this for my videomic pro plus and the opening is way too tight and won't stretch further to accommodate it.Not a fault of the product itself though. Going to purchase a slimmer mic foam to replace the one it came with so this will fit.

Dead cat is where it's at.
What can I say...it's a dead cat and works rather well. I do a lot of outdoor video in the summer and it drastically cuts down the wind noise you would pick up without one.

Great Little Roadkill
My only issue is that its a very tight fit. I had to remove the original filter foam from my microphones, but once on its highly sexy (looking great!). The fuzz doesn't come off easily. Overall I'd rate it 5 out of 5. The price is really good as well. I would highly recommend this product.
