Great Bike Shoe for Troll Feet.
I'm the victim of inheriting some big, wide, odd-shaped feet with a bunion and cramped toes on the right foot. Biking for many years but never really found the right clipless bike shoe & resorted to toe cages & sneakers, which I dislike. If you are in my camp, these shoes could be your ticket, as well.I'm a 13.5-14, EE width, clod-hopper, depending on brand and need room or flex on the right bunion area. Figured I give this new type knit shoe a shot. Well the 48's couldn't fit more perfect. Plenty of toe room on top & at the tips so they wiggle freely. Knit has the room and the give I need on my right bunion. (Note the bunion bulge in the photo) Big plus is full laces, which allows looser at toe and tighter at the ankle.Looks like over time this knit will take on the exact weird shape of my foot. They walk around and clip in comfortablly. Knit is new to me but so happy I pulled the trigger on these Giro Republics.Going to buy a backup pair or two, as often when the bike shoe gods smile at you the manufacturer discontinues.

Good balance between weight and comfort
For background, I am 6'4" and around 215 pounds. I mainly ride gravel and MTB. I considered some of the lightest road shoes offered by Giro. In fact I tried on about 6 different pairs. There were lighter versions but they were all less comfortable and typically more expensive. These knit versions are comfy and still a good bit lighter than the MTB Giro shoes I use in rough weather which have more grip for hike a bike sections.I typically wear size 13 US and the size 47 Euro fit well. A little tight at first but after a few rides they have broken in nicely. Having laces makes it easier to dial in a good fit vs. a boa system in my opinion. Weight is always a consideration in bike parts but when it comes to shoes (or a helmet) comfort is paramount. Highly recommend these shoes for anyone other than those racing for World Tour podiums.

Perfect lace ups
These shoes were on my wish list for a while, and I worried they wouldn’t be supportive enough as a knit, but turns out to be plenty supportive! They look like they’re just a sock but underneath is a nice stuff frame and sole. The laces are slowly getting into the perfect groove, and once that’s done these will be my favorite shoes. The ankle padding is really great, but I tied too tight the first few times and got tingly, so that was one thing to figure out for me.

Great shoes.
I ride these any time I'm on my endurance road bike, whether commuting to work or on a 60 mile fun ride. The quality is great, they are much more breathable than shoes with a solid upper, and are of course walkable. I bought a half size larger than a perfect fit for me so I have room for thick wool socks in the winter.

Very comfortable Biking shoes
Like another reviewer, my feet have had a hard existence. Left foot has had 3 broken bones, right only one. It is hard for me to find a comfortable shoe, much less a biking shoe. But, these are very comfortable. The upper is breathable and conform to your foot. Better for hot, warm temperatures -- the ventilation is great. Using with Shimano PD-M520L MTB pedals on a road bike.
