It sounded like a respectable and worthy enough death for an explorer - tumbling from an ice bridge to be impaled upon a mammoth tusk - but Stella really, really didn't want that to happen, just the same. Join Stella Starflake Pearl and her three fellow explorers as they trek across the snowy Icelands and come face-to-face with frost fairies, snow queens, outlaw hideouts, unicorns, pygmy dinosaurs and carnivorous cabbages . . . When Stella and three other junior explorers get separated from their expedition can they cross the frozen wilderness and live to tell the tale? A gorgeously imaginative middle grade fantasy adventure combining the best of Peter Pan , Lemony Snicket, Northern Lights and Alice in Wonderland. 'A magical adventure of friendship, bravery and derring-do in a richly imagined world.' The Bookseller 'A fantastic frosty adventure.' Sunday Express 'Wintry, atmospheric, highly imaginative fantasy.' Metro 'The most huggable book of the year . . . An (iced) gem.' SFX Review: Exciting read - Bought for my 8 year old granddaughter who loved it Review: BEST BOOK FOR ADVENTURE LOVERS - such a great series, my favourite of 2024, read all three in 5 days!!!! If that doesn't convince you to buy it, I don't know what will. I LOVED the whimsical world that this is set in where magic spills out in every page and the magic is very familiar like fairies, yetis but also unique like the frosties or carnivorous cabbages. The best part of the book is certainly the characters, My favourite character is definitely Shay but you gotta love stalla as a main character who is very kind yet brave and just very likable yet deep. Beanie is adorable and Eathan grows to be a deep character that you slowly fall is love with. Shay is just a heartwarming character that's impossible to hate. Book 2 is just as good if not better the whole series is a 5 star read for me, I wish we could get more of Stella and her friends instead of the spinoff series. Finishing the series left me with a hangover and I'm praying to God every waking moment of my existence for a book 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 with more adventures with Stella and her friends l.

My 9 yo daughter read the entire series!
This is a great adventure book with a female heroine. My daughter could not get enough of the series. We are waiting for Book 4 to arrive today. She has been talking about when her book will arrive since we ordered it. I haven't seen her look forward to anything so eagerly. The author is meticulous in her descriptions. It was a surprise for me that my daughter enjoyed reading such long sentences, but I can see now that this is exactly what young readers need. I think this is a great book to help transition from highly illustrated books to more text-based ones for this age group. We can't wait to read more from Alex Bell!
