it came glued together instead of in one piece
I was super excited for this mortar and pestle set because of the great reviews. I just opened it a few minutes ago and instantly noticed a white line going through it. It is very clear that it was once broken and glued back together with the glue and area surrounding the glue all sanded down (I work at a woodworks company so I know what sanded down glue looks like, though even if I didn’t, the giant white line going through it is very evident and clear). I’m sure it still works fine, but it’s unfortunate because I paid for a new product, not one that was broken and glued back together. I’m amazed that this company even allowed this one to still be sold after once being broken. The material quality is alright and seems like a good surface for grinding up spices and herbs. But again, I’m sure it still works, but it’s not the new product I paid for.

Something every great Kitchen should have
Long ago, a Mortar and Pestle was one of the most basic necessary tools for preparing herbs, blending teas, blending ingredients for poultices and more. This tools has fallen out of common use, and I say that's a shame.This granite Mortar and Pestle has been invaluable for making my own home-mixed tea and crushing medicine to mix into the food for my pets. I've even started pulverizing my own sea salt and peppercorns for my dishes to get the freshest taste from them. This thing is heavy, but solid, and useful. If you are looking to add one to your kitchen, this is the one I recommend.

Love it! Just what I needed!
Love it! heavy, solid construction, good size bowl. Pestal is long enough so you won't scrape your knuckles while grinding. Surface has just enough abrasion to aid in the process. Only negative is there is no padding on base to prevent scratches on counter but placing on a towel while using solves that problem. A good product!
