Loud, Rugged, Quality To Last For Years!
This is one of those products that could have been smaller or flimsier than the pictures made it look. But I took the risk and am not disappointed. It is hefty! The cast parts are rugged and the construction is top notch. It feels like it could take a lot of abuse, not that "handling abuse" is a prerequisite to being a good siren. But even the internal, red, "blades" that do the spinning are made of metal, not plastic like I expected. The action is SMOOTH! So smooth, in fact, that if you put the handle in the position it shows in the picture, it will slowly drop from gravity. The sound is exactly what you'd expect... that of an old fire truck. It starts out as a low growl, and has that increasingly high wail that modulates with your cranking action. The decibels only get really loud, though, at the higher pitches as you really crank. When you're really cranking you wish you were wearing ear muffs because it kind of hurts. The neighborhood will wake up at these levels. But if you only modestly crank it, people will notice, but it won't wake up the neighborhood. You have to get on it to get it loud. As you let off the handle and that wail slowly winds down it will make you smile. One nice safety feature is that it only cranks in a clockwise direction, but free spins if you crank the opposite direction. So the crank doesn't keep spinning if you let off the handle (like a 10-speed bike... but without the annoying clicking). Overall, this was well worth the $200 price tag for me. I think this thing will last until I can give it to my kids to annoy their neighbors.

Broke after a month
Mine broke after a month of use. Now it’s just a big expensive paperweight.

Loud and made to last.
Bought this siren to sound every time I use my pistol/rifle range. The siren is loud, (probably can hear for 1/2 mile or so), and very well contructed. Was a bit pricey but I believe it was worth it.
