I don't believe it does. I bought it for my grandson at a younger age when he enjoyed moving the pieces. I'm not sure how he's playing with it now.

I think there were very basic instructions on the box itself. We have gotten a lot of information on the many mathematical uses from various youtube videos.

An abacus is typically used for addition and subtraction but it can be used for multiplication and division. There are You Tube videos that show you how.
