Smoking at will....
I have had this for over a year....Collected all my traeger parts and added this unit. I built me another Texas for 600 bucks. Works just as good as my first Traeger that is over 6 years old. I now have 2 Texas elites. I could not be happier with this unit. I have had zero problems. Some temp swing plus or minus 20....All of them do that. If you know how to handle your grill.... no problem. Highly recommended....Never had to call the seller or request help. I would buy another for 275.000 if they would sell it to me.

Replaced Control Module 3 Times
I have a 5 year old GG. When it works, it’s really versatile. The problem is, the control module is a terrible cheap piece of junk. I have had to replace my control module three times. The next one I buy will be from a third party, because once again, I need to replace it. I just put a nice tri tip on and turned it on to smoke. It fires up fine, runs for about 5 minutes, and then for no reason after anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes of operation, the control module stops heating the igniter rod and the GG temp will drop to at or near the surrounding air temperature within about 15 minutes. The auger motor continues to turn and the fire box continues to fill, but no heat. The same happens when I run it at cooking temperature, so i basically have to sit next to my GG and monitor it continuously. Once it does this, once in a blue moon I can run a shutdown cycle, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, and then get my GG to fire up again, but most times the auger turns, the firepot fills, and the pellets will not re-ignite and I end up having to use my charcoal grill to finish whatever I am cooking or smoking. I have replaced the igniter ride twice and the control module three times (and the most recent replacement igniter rod I bought from GG was 1mm too large to fit. Luckily the igniter rod is just a metal rod, and doesn’t actually ever need to be replaced since it doesn’t do anything except act as a resistor and get hot). It’s not my electrical circuit, either. I had to replace two control modules (first one when the GG was 4 months old, second one at 24 months) as my previous house, and replaced one last year at my new house. In the short run, a GG is cheaper than a Traeger, but in the long run, you’ll spend just as much and I suspect have a lot less headache with a Traeger. Oh, customer support is via email. Good luck.

Bought this a while ago when I started building my smoker. Instructions are very hard to understand and they do not explain the operation well. I went through initial startup and seasoned the smoker fine. The next day I got it running and the temp continued to rise. I shut it down and had the same thing happen. I let it cool and tried a third time. It maintained temp so I put the roast in and watched it for 30 minutes. It was fine so I ran to the store quick. When I came back there was black smoke coming out and the temp gauge was maxed out. The smoker went up in flames. It just wouldn't maintain temp. I talked to the company and since I didn't put it in their grill I was told they wouldn't warranty it. I'm throwing it away and looking for another unit after I rebuild my smoker.
