I would say that was the best shave I have ever had!!! Zero razor burn, nicks or cuts or any kind of irritation whatsoever! It’s very easy to maneuver and glides easily giving you a comfortable and enjoyable shave. This Merkur 47C, I read on a website, is equipped with the same head as Merkur 34C HD, which I also own and which is my go to razor. ButI like the long handle and the weight of Merkur 47C. This one is now my new favorite. I will not need any other razor anymore!!! My search for a perfect razor ends here. So far I have used three of Merkur razors I.e. 23c, 34c and 47c. I would say, I would recommend all or any one of these razors,if you have sensitive skin or prefer a mild yet effective razor. Combine it with Taylor of old bond street shaving cream/soap or Proraso shaving products, Astra superior platinum blades and you will have the best shave ever.

Rasoio esteticamente bello e facile da usare. Un pelo più aggressivo del King di Gilette garantisce a mio il perfetto equilibrio per una rasatura quotidiana. A seconda delle lamette montate restituisce una rasatura in grado di offrire anche il BBS o semplicemente una rasatura spensierata. Ormai ha sostituito il King che ho relegato a rasoio alternativo da utilizzare saltuariamente o quando sono fuori.

I just love all Merkur Razors. I actually purchased this razor for the head to use on another handle. I have a very stout handle I acquired from Maggard Razors. I bought the MR8 handle with their least aggressive head. I loved the handle, but the head was just a bit too aggressive for my skin. The head wasn't like the Merkur 34C HD (Heavy Duty), which is my favorite razor and it is not aggressive for my sensitive skin. Someone gave me great advice to look for a Vintage Gillette Tech double edge razor head because it not that aggressive and inexpensive. So I started looking, but in the back of my mind I had some concerns. Pricing, aggressiveness and how sanitary will it be. It's not like I did not trust the person but I knew I loved my Merkur and a used head was a little worrisome because I needed to find out how to completely sterilize it, plus the pricing of the Vintage heads were around $20, so I thought why not look for a Merkur head because I have read that Merkur uses the 34C head on many models. It was really hard to find the Merkur head alone, but then I a thought I should try a three piece that may have the same head as the 34C and I believe I found it with the C42. It is very hard to confirm my findings, about the C42 and the 34C HD heads to be the exact same. Many people said it is the same, but it feels a little different, but damn close. Anyway, the Merkur 34C HD as great as it is, it is a two piece razor, which means you are kind of stuck with that handle and cannot take the head to another handle. Here comes the C42, which at the price is an incredible bargain. It is very easy to say for beginners in Double Edge shaving try the Merkur 34C HD and you would not be wrong in any way. The price ranges anywhere from $29 to $60, which is not bad for a starter (Go shopping because it fluctuates, I got it for just under $30 on Amazon). If you are even on a tighter budget you cannot go wrong with the Merkur C42, which I landed for just over $22 from Amazon. I hope this helps out someone.

Il Mercur 42C è un rasoio di sicurezza a barra chiusa in metallo di ottima fattura, fabbricato in Germania con qualità teutonica. Rasoio particolarmente consigliato per i neofiti della rasatura tradizionale, questo non perché taglia poco (anzi), ma la sua conformazione lo rende uno strumento delicatissimo sul viso (anche con lame affilate tipo KAI) e perdona gli errori di pressione ed angolatura tipici dei neofiti. Prima regola: "non squartarsi". L'esposizione della lama è mimima, così come il Gap tra lama e barra di sicurezza. Posso assicurare che con una buona lama ed un pochino di pratica si raggiunge una profondità di taglio eccellente, il BBS è tranquillamente a portata di mano. Il manico zigrinato gli dona un discreto grip, anche con mani un po' bagnate. Un consiglio: prima di impugnare qualsiasi rasoio toccate per qualche secondo l'allume di rocca, vedrete che fa la differenza! Insomma, per pochissimo costo abbiamo un oggetto che oltre a rappresentare un'ottima "palestra" per il tonsore neofita, si distingue anche per il lato estetico e funzionale. Lo consiglio spassionatamente.
