I Think Our Son Is Gay 01 Paperback – May 11, 2021

What a wonderful book! The vignettes are all heartwarming and fun. The characters are well developed, and their relationships are realistic. It's a great read!

I'm very picky about gay stories, because I'm gay myself and feel many just miss the mark, but I love this so much. I love the perspective from the mother. It made me tear up a few times. It's very sweet and I really would've loved to have had a mother like this.The artwork is beautiful, it's well paced with each chapter not dragging on. I suppose they can be a bit short at times, but they always leave you wanting more. And after testing this one out with Vol 1, I'm going to order the other 4 volumes now. I can't recommend it enough.

With pride month almost here this Diamond of a manga is just what we need in 2021.The art is adorable and perfect for the slice of life manga.Let me start off and say the topics tackled in this manga are relatable to me, a 31-year-old gay man, just as to any adolescent figuring himself/themselves out.The whole thing is inner thoughts from a mother who is realizing her son is gay one day at a time.We also see a young man grow into his own, Little by little he gets more comfortable accepting himself. It’s also a story of the struggles of coming out to each family member, The chapters with the father resonate particularly, constantly being asked questions about girls, The feeling of inadequacy that comes from the constant pressure of being assumed straight in society!They are funny chapters like where are the mother discovers her sons browsing history on the computer.....There are also chapters that illuminate the struggles that even I face today as a gay man, The wanting to be able to hold my man’s hand in public without ridicule and without being in danger. That chapter made me tear up. I’m still afraid to hold my boyfriends hand in public.All in all this is a MUST HAVE for all my queer family.

If I could get a book 10 stars, I would! This manga is so sweet and wholesome, a very needed queer story.In it we follow the Aoyama family. Hiroki is questioning his identity and sexuality, and his mother is totally accepting and supportive. It has a lot of things to say about accepting yourself and showing self love. Also, it shows parenting at it's finest. Hiroki's mother is so patient and kind, and lets her son explore a part of himself that he's trying to figure out.This is the kind of story I needed when I was little. My own mother was not supportive of me when I came out, and reading this story filled me with hope. I'm so glad that this exists for our queer and questioning youth. If you're a parent, I think you should read this, too! Please do, it is a wonder comic and deserves to be read by all.

This was such a cute intro to the series. Loved how the mother is so understanding and didn’t push her son to come out❤️ looking forward to the rest of the series.

i love this artist so much, really good job with the story so far, i just bought the entire series.

Just a heart warming story about a mother who thinks her son might be gay but he isn't ready to talk about it but she does her best to support him. I love how the story shows how little things people said growing up has led to his bottling up his sexuality and how he is slowly opening up to his mother. It does over use the same jokes a bit too much for me but the sweet mother and son relationship outweighed any negatives

This is just so awesome. The story is told by Tomoko, a stay at home mother of two. She quietly supports her closeted young gay son as he comes home from school and talks about his day, or brings friends home. She doesn’t tell him that she’s caught on and understands. She’s letting him find his way.

There’s highlights and interesting moments where the son accidentally reveals to his mother that he is gay and I think that he’s very funny and how his mom speculate and it’s very nice to see it through somebody else’s eyes and through his eyes as well

Bought it has a gift for Sant Jordi and the book was really good! Totally recommended
