THE WORLD ENCYCLOPEDIA OF SERIAL KILLERS: Volume One A-D

Good read! Definitely recommended.
I found this book very easy to read. Not what I would call a typical encyclopedia. Never realized the number of serial killersr there were in the world and this is only volume 1. Looking forward to the next.

Wow! Nice first book by this author.
Got my book yesterday. It’s very readable. Quite a page turner. A lot of killers I’ve never heard of. Can’t wait till the next volume.

Could do with some editing.
Was a very interesting read, however there were several grammatical and spelling errors that were hard to overlook. Also, this is an incomplete list of killers A - D. Andre Chikatilo isn't mentioned, for instance.

Boring with a religious slant
When the introduction to the book has a reference to the supposed "first murder in recorded history" as Cain and Abel, I know things are just going to go downhill from there. When I see gay victims referred to as "homosexuals", I knew I was correct in my assessment. This book was written years after the LGBTQ community made it known that the term homosexual is offensive, so for an author to deliberately use it shows that she does not care to learn the preferred terms - gay, lesbian, etc. The writing itself is sophomoric, and mostly reads as a basic description of the crimes, rather than any sort of insight into the killers themselves. I get that this is just an encyclopedia of serial killers, but as someone who devoured encyclopedias as a child because they were so interesting and full of fun factoids, I am not at all impressed or intrigued.

Disappointment
Purchased all 4 volumes, and the potential is there for a really great reference work, however, the author desperately needs an editor. Poorly constructed sentences in some cases made the paragraphs difficult to understand. There are grammar errors, spelling errors and even errors in facts. It feels incomplete with missing details in the narratives of each offender. Photos would also be a nice touch. I can certainly appreciate the amount of research and work done by the author, but the resulting volumes leave much to be desired.

Useful book
I bought this as research for screenplays. It's a little repetitive in its presentation, and sometimes short on detail, but still a good volume (set of volumes!) to check for the basic facts.
