Rubbish - don't buy it.
The product description for this item is a fantastic work of fiction:“45° angle of sockets” Nope! The sockets are slightly angled but are nowhere near 45°. A small point perhaps, but do read on, it gets much worse.“stylish, stable casing consists of highly break-proof, polished polycarbonate” - Nope! its actually made of cheap and bendy Polypropylene, it has the general feel of something that might break if it gets caught by a light breeze.“Light indicating surge voltage is active“ - Nope! The claimed surge indicator doesn’t exist.“Suppresses visual and acoustic interference in TV sets, video recorders and audio systems” - Nope! The unit has no surge or filtering components whatsoever. All you get here are badly soldered connections and a feeble physical wire retainer. No electronic filtering at all.“Prevents interference to connected equipment” Nope! - No interference prevention at all. I suppose you could use it to hit somebody that was trying to interfere with your equipment but it would probably just break into little pieces without doing them much harm.“Protects sensitive electronics from high frequency interference voltages” - How? Some kind of magic filtering pixie dust embedded into the (cheap) plastic?“With replaceable 10 A fuse” Nope! - The extension unit contains no replaceable fuse, all you get here is the normal 13 amp fuse in the plug.“Three-core arrangement protects phase, neutral and earth leads” Nope! No surge suppression on any of phase, neutral or earth leads.“Brennenstuhl stands for quality and innovation.” Nope! If this item is representative of the brand then it actually stands for pure hype and a complete absence of quality or any of the claimed features.Summary: Overpriced garbage, buy something else.

Poor quality for the money
I really don't like leaving negative reviews but if it helps someone else to avoid being disappointed with their purchase then sometimes I think it's necessary. For some reason it seems almost impossible to buy a decent quality extension lead with 8 UK sockets with a switch on the power board itself. Brennenstuhl seem to be one of the only manufacturers that make such a thing too.I'm using this extension lead for my computer desk with the mains socket located behind a chest of drawers which is why I wanted a switch on the power board itself. Even with my computer, monitor and other devices turned off (or in standby mode) they still draw about 40w of power so being able to switch it off when not in use is ideal for me.This will actually be the second Brennenstuhl extension lead that I have purchased recently and unfortunately will almost certainly be the last! The issue for me is that they are quite expensive and the quality is not good at all, it certainly doesn't justify the cost in my opinion. I just had to return the 'Super Solid' version because a brand new one had a socket that made an arching noise and the switch wouldn't always turn off. This 'Premium Line' model seems a little bit better but the switch feels like it will wear out quite quickly. As many other reviewers have mentioned, there is no way to mount this horizontally to a wall. Most mains extensions I've ever used have the 2 standard moulded holes and grooves on the back where you place it over 2 screws and slide it down to secure it. It seems like a massive oversight on these Brennenstuhl mains extensions. Instead you are left with 1 janky clip to attach one end to a wall, so that it can hang vertically. It really is a terrible design!Unfortunately I won't be buying any more of their products. I am a little surprised because these products seem to be rated highly by other users. I guess my expectations are perhaps too high!Pros:- 8 UK sockets- Switch on the power board itself- 3m cableCons:- Expensive- Feels like poor quality construction- Switch doesn't feel like it will last long- Cannot be mounted horizontally (not without some form of DIY bodge job)

It's OK, but it's not great
I had a similar experience to other reviewers, in that this power strip isn't really suited to horizontal mounting. You could just about do it, there are a couple of recesses on the back of the thing, but the two moulded plastic pieces either end of the unit make it stand approx 1cm proud of any surface you try to mount it to.I gave up, screwed the removable tab to the back of my TV unit, which was only just tall enough to hide the power strip. The screws secured the top of the power strip, but the bottom was floating about. I used Velcro to secure that, which worked really well.I'm not super impressed with the plastic construction. I've handled £5 power strips that felt more substantial and tough. I was also surprised (my fault, should have read the product description closely) to find no surge protection on this thing. If I had to buy an 8-way power strip again, it would not be this brand.

Almost makes 5 stars but...
It's a good solidly built item but did not quite hit the mark. There is quite a good system for vertical installation; the tab sticking out in the picture has screw fittings and can be mounted on either end; but be aware that there is no allowance (e.g. screw locations) for it to be mounted onto a wall horizontally. So if you want a trailing lead then this is a good product - if you want to locate your sockets to enable cable management then you would be better looking elsewhere, or modifying it as I must to meet my deadlines. One other point - it was packed in a huge box but when it arrived parts of it had penetrated the box and were projecting out; resulting in slight damage. What was clear is that the damage had occurred at packing - the only way to make it easily fit.

Neat, well built and solid
Wanted a 8 gang extension for fixing to a unit and this fitted the bill. The manufacturer has glowing reviews across it's range, so although it was more expensive than it's competition, all these other people can't be wrong?Very solidly built (feels almost indestructible although not tested), good anchor points and ideal cable length.
