Formulae for the Mariner

Book is a great quick reference that I always have available on the bridge.

Have used this before, but did not have my own copy. This is a great book at sea. Many formulas for problems you may encounter. When there is no internet or other reference available at sea. As an example: we needed to know the volume of a lube oil tank to determine the gallons on hand.

The greatest book for understanding the mathematics behind navigation and the like. It is simple, straightforward, and a great way to not only learn for the first time, but also refresh yourself on the process in the future, I have used this book at least a few times every year since I bought it, and truth be told I was using it just yesterday. Honestly this is the greatest tool for any mariner! As I recall, shipping was timely, and I had no issues with the seller. :) Get this book if you plan to sail!

I bought this book to help me test for Master AGT (Unlimited) and after going over it I should have bought it 18 years ago!!!! I have been a Captain for over 18 years and the info in this book is so amazingly useful it should be in every Merchant Marine Officers brief case. If you actively sail you want this book.

Contains every formula that one would use. Great diagrams.

Lots of formulas in this book. Just be good in algebra and up to know how to do the calculations.

This book was purchased while studying for a recent USCG license exam. I found it to contain all the formulae needed for the exam, and it has potential for practical use at sea. The only complaint I have is in its organization of formula into the different categories (navigation, stability, etc.). It is somewhat haphazard in its layout.

Le formule contenute sono utili si, ma a parte un po' di trigonometria e qualche accenno all'ortodromia non c'è poi tanto. Mi spiace perché ad esempio si salta quasi del tutto la navigazione piana e l'astronomia. Anche la stabilità è molto scarna.
