Brilliant
Really excellent and fun to make up all the circuits. I took the hint from a review on UTube and bought a second Starter Set to get more pieces. This is more cost effective than buying the expansion packs. I will confess I have just bought a third set to allow even more complicated layouts. Everything goes together extremely well, as one would expect with a Ravensburger product. One hint. If you keep the hexagonal pieces that you remove from the bases you can glue them together and make additional towers with a black base on the top and a grey base on the bottom. Just cut the top piece so it fits into one of the black bases.

Needs improvement but the idea is awesome.
I have bought a few of these kits but I must say that Gravitrax have it all wrong. Its WAY too flimsy and you are scared to put your hand near anything incase it all tumbles down. Dealing with multiple levels is a nightmare. The other problem is the lack of loop ability. By this I mean you can't create a track that loops over and over on itself. You have to keep setting bits up over and over again for a second of marble movement. They need to create a device that allows you to go up higher using some kind of battery operared lift. Some people want a repetitive track so you can watch all your marbles going round and round but you can't do it with this. With all the intelligent stunt addons, not one of them is self resettable. You always have to prepare then of use again and it's annoying. It just needs to click together better. It isn't for all ages. Young kids will just end up knocking it over or snapping something. This is for 9/10+I amazed there isn't a magnetic device yet that a pull can fall into and uses magnets to force it up or forward without the need for weights or catapults. It's got loads of potential for bigger tracks and ideas but the fact you have to keep resetting everything turns it all into a bit of a chore.

Successful gift!
Bought this starter set for my Grandson‘s 9th Birthday present and it is a winner! He loves it and has already bought some of the supplementary pieces with money he received for his Birthday and has now added others to his Christmas present wish list. He watched some of the videos on YouTube to help him with track ideas (as a previous reviewer found, the magnetic booster can send the balls hard and fast off the track) and now his Dad is sending me videos of the tracks he is building himself. He is having to work out what makes a viable track. I am delighted this has been such a success and could well buy a set for my adult son!

Brilliant!
My son (aged 10) got this for his birthday and loves it. Once it was built he spent hours building tracks and reconfiguring tracks. It is a great system. My only complaint is that the tracks are plastic and feel a bit brittle. Almost immediately one piece broke, however, on contacting the manufacturer via their website it turns out they do a free replacement service - completed the online form and a couple of weeks later we received a replacement part, for free, in the post. Well done Ravensburger. The base is made of cardboard so I would advise keeping this game for slightly older kids (ages8+) so that the bits don't get damaged. It isn't cheap but it does provide hours of fun whilst experimenting with design/engineering and physics. We will probably buy more to extend the system.

I would have loved this as a kid,
...as it is, my six year old daughter can't keep her hands off it. She enjoyed 'Marble Run', so when she saw this advertised she quickly put her order in. So far, I have set it up so she can focus on playing and modification, but she'll soon be creating her own 'freestyle' layouts. If your kids enjoy making things they can play with then you'll find this is an excellent parent/child bonding experience as you quibble over which parts go where and how best to retrieve a ball bearing from under a sofa.

Grandson calls this a 'unique toy'
Bought for my 8 year old grandson who has spent hours playing with this, good instruction book with different levels from easy to hard allowed him to develop his skills in making own tracks. Although cost appeared quite high versus that of a marble run the quality and playability makes it value for money. Being able to buy extension packs means that this is a toy that can grow.Would buy again.

This is really good, probably a bit overpriced but 6 year old loves it and so do I. Loads of different tracks to build from simple to difficult or just freestyle it. Dead easy to do no fiddly clicking things in place etc would recommend.
