Does what it should
I got this for my Yamaha Clavinova CSP-170 and it worked great. The Clavinovas are setup to work with tablets, primarily work with IPADs which I don't have. So this was a needed addition to get the piano on the network.

Needs to allow connection to home speaker system
Thickness & sheerness were auto-filled categories that make no sense. I filled in overall rating in for those rating. This device is what we needed to connect our Yamaha silent piano to internet, & use Yamaha app, Smart pianist. Two reasons it was not five stars: it should have been included with our silent piano purchase, which was pricey. Also it would be nice if this device also allowed our silent piano to connect with our receiver & home speaker system, so that we could hear all those wonderful instrument options (organ, harpsichord, chimes etc.) on speakers, and not only headphones. Come on, Yamaha!! It’s an amazing instrument that just needs this cherry on top!

Not very useful
I bought this for my Yamaha PSR SX900, so please keep that in mind as you read my review. My experience may not be valuable for owners of other Yamaha keyboards. There is almost no documentation included with the adapter. Further, the Yamaha website has no information about it. I couldn’t find information about what this device is supposed to do or what its capabilities are other than allowing the internal clock in my Yamaha keyboard to be updated. I can’t transfer files or connect to the internet (or least there are no instructions on hows to do so). Sent it back.

Necessary but expensive accessory.
Perfect addition to my P-515 to get my android Smart Pianist working. Expensive for a typical wifi dongle. But it is proprietary hardware.

Absolute waste of money
It simply does not connect to the router, only AP mode works (disconnecting your phone from the internet). Yamaha provides no support so don't even think buying this useless adapter.

Great for connecting an Android tablet to control additional features of the keyboard.

A bit sad I had to return, but I would recommend
I actually ended returning this item but it does work for Yamaha pianos. The installation is a bit strange since there are several ways. In the end, I YouTubed how to install it but found out it didn’t work on my keyboard. It should work fine for your piano if it’s compatible.

Follow directions on the box, easy. Connected first try and has stayed connected through several uses. Works perfectly, although it seems to be a bit pricey.

Hook up could have been a bit easier to explain but I still had it going in less than 5 minutes. Confusing part was seeing the access point appear on my Samsung S6 Tablet. Didn't know the name so I quickly disconnected and re-connected again and the access point appeared again. I selected it and I was in. Full control of the CLP 685!! If you are worried about connecting, just remember that this WI-FI Yamaha adapter DOES work with the CLP685. Get some computer techie friend to help You'll love the wireless feature. Even though you still can use a USB cable. ******NEW******* This WIFI should work with the Yamaha P-515. I suggest you download the manual for the 515 from Yamaha. It is mentioned somewhere around Page 74. I would assume that it will work.
