How do i change my modes? been following directions but it doesn’t change at all. a bit disappointed. any tips on how’s to fix?

The rubbery button that you press to change color, you need to hold that for a little bit then it switches through the modes :)

I want to make it shorter. Can i cut it the fiber optic and it still work?
