This is what the shades looked like right out of the box.
There are also pinholes, these are the worse, very worse product I have ever purchased through Amazon. The shades are cheap, wrinkled, they don't close, light streams through. Blackout?? They would have to hang straight and not be made of re-used crinkled junk. I will be contacting the company. My advise is to not listen to the reviews with 5-4 stars, as they say they are mostly fake. THIS is NOT fake, do not waste your money.

Support for damaged items may not be great
Update: Chicology did finally respond to emails. Sent 2 replacement panels. The fraying appears to happen at the “wand” area when opening panels. Upgraded the stars to 4.Love the product but a panel was frayed when it arrived. Contacted the company via email and was advised two replaced panels were being sent (great!). Days have passed and no shipping info provided. Tried calling the support number and you cannot speak with a CSR - told to use email or website (why have it listed on installation or Amazon support if you aren’t going to answer). Emailed asking when the expected panel replacement order would be shipped. No response. Tried to look the order number up on their website to track there - doesn’t seem to exist.Guess I’ll have to order another set / take a good panel from it and return the order. Seems wasteful.Had to use YouTube video also to install. Written instructions weren’t so great.

don't waste your money
This product is horrible. I don't even know where to begin. The materials are all very cheap. The instructions are incredibly hard to understand (and I draw plans for a living, so I know what good plans should look like). Maybe if the plans had been better, I wouldn't have had such a negative attitude towards the materials. For instance, they take great care in pointing out that you need to make sure that the Velcro on the shades all face forward... but they never show you which way forward is. After spending a period of time inspecting everything, I eventually decided that it didn't matter which way "forward" was. You just needed to make sure that they all faced the same way. While on the topic of the shade panels, (what they call "fabric panels") these are nothing more than thin fabric pasted to paper. If you have children, pets, or are generally just non-observant as you slide the panels open and closed, they are going to crinkle (and stay that way), or possibly even tear. Installation was NOT easy (once again, because the plans are poorly drawn, in addition to just an overall poor design of fitting things together properly).I am SO disappointed with this purchase. Knowing what I know now, I would not take these again if they paid me to take them instead of the other way around.Hopefully by now I have gotten my point across well enough to keep anyone else from wasting the time and money on these.Find another solution... your hard-earned dollars are not well spent here.

Sliders tend to get sticky
A couple of years ago, I bought a similar system from IKEA. I installed it on my patio sliding glass doors. Excellent quality and still works great. I have a closet that had some rickety fan-fold doors, looked up the sizes for a replacement panel system from IKEA, and their units would have been to large. Found this system on Amazon, and decided to give it a try. The installation is very easy, real no brainer , used the ceiling mount, in terms of the closet overhang to mount it. Took about half an hour. Works as advertised. The only con, and this may be minor for some people, is that the sliding mechanisms for the panel are not really that smooth, tends to stick. This is just probably due to the cheap price of the components involved, but still works okay. The panels, are really fabric like IKEA, and this may contribute to the non smoothness of the slides (The IKEA fabric is heavier in quality). The panels are what can I say, kinda like a light weight paper??? Don't know how to best describe them. So in terms of longevity, this could be an issue for some people. What I mean by this, is I don't see them lasting through a lot of ware and tear of the fabric. Anyway, unit performs a advertised. Just have to be a bit more careful in usage than the IKEA system which seem to be a lot more rugged. But the price is good and the main benefit is the adjustable widths. The only recommendation I have is that they should have made the tracks in groups of 3 versus (IKEA are 3 track systems) the 2 track systems they sell. But this may have driven the price up a bit, this may cure the sticky-ness issue in the sliders, I don't know.

Patience needed, steady hand, lots of practice with velcro, two chairs or stepladders
Pros - 1) This looks better than similarly priced vinyl vertical blinds in my opinion. 2) Not so expensive that I can't replace when needed.Cons - 1) There is no way to adjust which track is nearest the door, so a right hand pull slider will have the panel against the door that opens rather than further away. 2) Very difficult to get the panels to hang straight. 3) The velcro attachment is on the back of the slider which means hanging the panel has to be done by feel, not sight. 4) Need two chairs or stepladders to measure and install the header to ensure it is level. 5) The panel tracks catch so they have to be slid slowly or risk ripping the panel. 6) The pull wand rubs against the panel and will cause a significant wear with use. 7) The panels block more of the door than would vertical blinds when fully open. 8) Needs a valence or other covering to hide the sliders.

Great concept however poor quality of track, that became unusable after 2 days of use
We loved the concept of these and they even looked really nice and we got so many compliments in the 2 days we were able to use them. The track is cheaply made and would catch where the tracks adjusted. After opening and shutting them a few times they completely jammed up and weren’t able to move on the track on the one side without taking the panel off and sliding it and putting the panel back. Additionally the track looks super cheap, despite the panels looking classy if you want the track to look nice you’re have to add a valence yourself which we decided to do prior to them becoming unusable. Love the concept, need a better quality track to make it worth it. Returned due to broken track.

Pleased with quality for price
Read mixed reviews about damage or bad quality but the product arrived in great condition. Easy to install with clear instructions. It’s somewhat sheer but most curtains are so we were expecting that (layered in narrower spaces like this, it’s mostly opaque). We were using it as an alternative to old bifold closet doors in our teenager’s room that has limited space. They give a clean, organized look to the room. They came well rolled so we didn’t have any major creases. This is what they look like right after unrolling and installing. Pleased with the end result and quality for the price point.

Nice product, easy install, BUT…
Received item in very good condition, very well packed, and very quickly. Assembly and Installation process was a breeze and loved the idea of sliding panels for my patio door rather than having those old fashioned vertical blinds or drapes. A little disappointed that these are more opaque that I thought but color was on point with description and fits in with my decor very nicely. The only issue is that within one week of installation, the vertical side of fabric panel where wand is located has already began to unravel…I guess that happens from using wand frequently or when the wind moves the panels. Make sure that you’re at a distance in front of the panel and then slide panels with wand which is a little inconvenient. Suggestion to seller to provide or offer a plastic to insert at each end of the panels to protect the panels and avoid this situation and make this product a 5 stars! I don’t know how long these will last…luckily you can change the fabric panels at a cost and still keep track. Overall, you get for what you pay and at this price point, you’re nowhere near the price you’d pay at local stores so still happy with my purchase.Tip: measure each panel separately once installed BEFORE cutting, mark each one to desired length and then re-install as your wall trimmings could be off a little in precise measurement.

Panels are made of unfinished fabric that frays
I really wanted to love this item but unfortunately, the fabric that the panels are made of is a woven unfinished fabric. This type of fabric you can't be left unfinished at the edges or else the fabric will just slowly fall apart as chunks of it just slides off. It's really confusing as to why the edges aren't finished with this fabric choice especially considering how expensive the item is.Because you have to hold the panels at the sides exactly where the fabric is unfinished in order to move them back and forth, they won't last. If you are open to trying to finish the edges yourself then this product might be for you.Luckily, this brand has other types of panels also in a grey colour that is similar and that doesn't fray so I would try that instead.

Really wanted to love them but...
Blinds are beautiful and were easy to trim and install. They provide great privacy and the brown colour is a great neutral choice. Against my better judgment, I chose to ignore the reviews that mentioned that the blinds fray. Sadly after 3 months of owning them mine too began to fray. The ends are not sealed and the slightest brush of the material causes it to fray. I tried applying tape on the inside. Also tried putting some glue on the other edges but nothing helped. I love them but they look like they are ready for the garbage only after a few months.

Excellent for the price..
Bought these for our sliding patio door. They went up easily. Adjustable width and length, although I used the full height. Made my own valance with crown. They are pretty good at light blocking. I've had custom shades at my previous home. They were great but also cost over $1000. For 1/5th the $$ I'd buy these again if I had to.
