Great CD! Was a gift for my husband! He loves it!!

Universal released a few “Gold” series, this is the series that preceded the white labeled top drawer “Gold” that started appearing in 2004, this set as done in 2003 and in this series Dinah Washington and Billie Holiday were also featured. Regarding this 2003 compilation the mastering is good, it surpasses somewhat the 1993 Songbook set and it’s three spin off cd’s and the songbook series is what this set leans on. “Mack The Knife” which no set of hits should ever be without is here along with duets featuring Louis Armstrong. A lot of Ella’s non songbook albums have been skipped, too bad because there are some choice cuts from “Whisper Not” and “Ella Swings Brightly” to name a couple would’ve fit right in. What is here is not only the best of the best from her Verve association but also the best of the Great American Songbook which Ella represented so well. For two cd’s priced at $10.00 can make you dismissive but this is authentic, released by Universal who owns the Verve label, and the mastering is again, really good.

Ella at her superb best! I have over 33,000 numbers in my cd collection.including the great big bands, great big band singers, all major classical operas, symphonies and concertos . This 2cd album is not only Ella in great voice, but a collection of 38 standards along with outstanding sound. If you like Ella, add this album to your collection.

Great selections, great presentations. Listener will have a much deeper appreciation of Ella’s grace and talent following a single listening session.

Play this in my car as I drive around, love all the songs. She to me is my favorite singer, never tire of her.

She’s a brilliant singer, one of the great jazz singers, who wouldn’t like it. I would suggest to only listen to it on a good stereo in the car. It is great sounding on my little CD player. It’s not that great, very tinny, but that voice shines through Ella⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shipping was shoddy. CD case was cracked, but fortunately the CD's were okay.

This is music that I grew up with and so is laced with nostalgia for happy times in London (UK); at coffee bars etc; juke boxed with spag-bol before an evening out. so good----!

Fabulosa recopilacion con un sonido muy bueno y la voz increíble de Ella. Están todas las mejores canciones (2cds)y el precio es bastante adecuado. Recomendable si te gusta Ella Fitzgerald o si no conoces el jazz y quieres acercarte a él. En cualquier caso no te arrepentirás.

Come tutte le raccolte quando sono di grandi artisti con una vasta discografia si percepiscono i diversi stili di esecuzione e di accompagnamento, a mio parere raccolte come queste devono servire come eccellente punto di partenza, per poi approfondire le diverse incisioni, e mi sento di consigliare in modo particolare le esecuzioni dal vivo con accompagnamento a trio (pianoforte,basso,batteria) dove la sua eccezionale voce è in grande risalto.
