It does work...
Well, I tested this by clipping it onto the side of a plastic food storage container and gradually filled the container with water at my sink, while watching the wires with a resistance meter. It waited until the VERY last minute, but it did trip before water spilled over the side. So, when you install this make really sure you push it all the way down so the brim of your pan is seated all the way up into the mounting bracket. If your pan isn't deep enough for that (i.e., if the switch is stopped by the bottom of the pan instead of by the bracket, then be sure you do your own test; I'd worry in that case. I installed this in the drain pan for an Aprilaire whole home dehumidifier - installation was a breeze. On the wiring panel for the Aprilaire there are two terminals for float switch, and initially there is a small jumper between them. So you want to use the "common" and "normally closed" wires of the switch, which are the long one. I just removed the little jumper and wired the switch wires in its place - job done.
