Q: Can anyone compare this brand to the Great Lakes brand that is often recommended?

Hi! I haven't tried the Great Lakes brand so I can't make a comparison but the reason I chose Vital Proteins is because the protein comes from pasture raised cows. Pasture raised cows produce a better quality protein compared to grain fed cows. It was also a good value at $44.00 for a 2 lb. tub of protein, compared to $21.49 for a 1 lb. tub of Great Lakes collagen, which is not a huge difference at all. If you decide to go with Great Lakes let me know what you think about it. So far I have no complaints about Vital Proteins. Hope his helps.

Hi Sue! Thanks for the question! The main difference between our Collagen Peptides (blue) and our Beef Gelatin (green) is the way they are used. The Collagen Peptides will dissolve in any hot or cold liquid, so they're great to add to coffee, tea, smoothies, etc. Our Beef Gelatin will gel in cold liquids, so it's perfect for parfaits or gelatins. I don't think any company test all their products for Mad Cow disease. They test the animal not the product. Try contacting the company for your answer for their safeguards.
