Highly recommend this cream for shingles!
When someone says you have shingles, you freak out a little, especially after reading about it online. Who wants to go through a painful, itchy, blister filled rash that can last 3-5 weeks. And what do you mean I can put topical ointment on those blisters? It hurts and goodness knows you don't really want to touch it, even on your own body. I had blisters in the upper middle of my back and spray lidocaine just didn't work for me. The front was fine, but the back was painful and itchy. I have to say, this cream was the best remedy and I'm glad I found it. Not only does it smell pleasant, but it reduces pain and gives you that cool feeling you get from icy hot. And the texture was awesome... Like a whipped, fluffy cream. It spread nicely and really helped, providing needed comfort. I wish the tub was shorter and squat so you could reach in easier, but can't complain here! Highly recommend!

Great product but horrible packaging
This stuff works very well and lasts a good while. The only complaint I have is the packaging. Why not put cream in a tub like container. Makes it hard when it gets to the bottom of bottle.

shingbase brings relief for awhile
with its combination of 4% lidocaine and menthol, this cream brings relief for a while. The menthol cools the area down. I began using this when I was about 5 weeks into the horror of shingles. Prior to that, I used the silver sulfadiazine (prescribed by someone who misdiagnosed my shingles as sunburn!) The blister-like eruptions were mostly gone when I began using Shingbase. I am now in week 9, the rash is fading (both front and back as I have an atypical instance of the shingles) But even non-rash areas are still very sensitive so I am using Shingbase several times a day and night. I am nearing the bottom of the bottle and may order another. I would definitely recommend this.

No returns or refunds
It shouldn't be listed as returnable! Why lie about that? There are better products for cheaper. Unable to return or receive a refund at all. Change the listing to reflect that.

It works
I literally own every cream out there for shingles nerve pain and nothing gives relief not even gabapentin..Bought this as a last resort and it does actually work really well unfortunately for only about an hour which is why I gave 3 instead of 5 stars..Bottle is so small that reapplying so often you run out real quick..Really wish it lasted longer cause the relief is so damn refreshing..Really does help before bed to help you fall asleep when the nerve is throbbing..Will be ordering more cause even though it don’t last long there’s nothing else out there that works

From intense itching to intense burning - NOT FOR ACTIVE SHINGLES!!!
I've been working in the cosmetic industry for 25+ years, and I'd be surprised if this cream contains only 1% menthol. Honesty, you might as well rub pure Vicks Vaporub on your shingles rash. The burning was so intense that the cream had to be washed right away. (you shouldn't get that reaction from 1% menthol and tea tree oil). If there's any lidocaine in it, I'll never know how long it takes to act.It might be OK for back pain and lesion-free skin*, but I would absolutely NOT recommend it for ACTIVE shingles—especially not facial shingles.*The jar features a WARNING about NOT APPLYING THE PRODUCT ON WOUNDS OR DAMAGED SKIN. Guess what shingles lesions are?It might be OK for inactive shingles (i.e. the post-lesion phase), to calm neurological pain, and that's the only reason I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt (and two stars). On a side note, the jar is shrink-wrapped in plastic, but there's no internal seal between the cream and the bottle cap. Also, the bottle cap is not child proofed as claimed. Definitely up to U.S. standard packaging practices. Also, be aware that product isn't available for return.
