I know it is sold as a firearms lube (work great for that) but it can be used anywhere you need lubrication. It works nearly as well as synthetics. I will say that it really does not "clean" like a true cleaning penetrating oil/solvent, but then I don't expect it too. It will easily remove the bulk of carbon from my guns... the stuff that blows back into the workings. But it will not cut through the hardened carbon found in chambers unless you apply a healthy dose of scrubbing. It stays wet though, like a lot of moisture. I always used CLP until recently. Not for sure why but put some on a q-tip and put on pellet. Pellets for a rifle pellet gun or pellets for a rabbit?? **Q: Would FP-10 work on/be effective for knives/flippers?** A: Any kind of oil based lubricant would help a folding blade. There are ingredients, in FP10, specifically geared to combustion weapons that will not add anything to your application. You might want to visit the Benchmade Knife website to see what they offer that is specific to knives. If you already have FP10 laying around ......... the label says it won't harm most wood or plastics. It works fine for lube but I notice the oil gets rather scarce when I have my firearm stored for a while. I'd still get another bottle of this for cleaning purposes and I still dump it in my firearms on range day that don't like grease like a 1911 or something. If your gun has very tight tolerances, yeah this oil will do good. But for a glock or ar15 I'll use grease to lube the main rub points and leave residuals of thisboil for the rest.
