Nice Warm Coat That Could Use a Couple Small Design Tweaks
I bought this coat to use when I visit up north in the cold weather. It is very warm. However, it could use a couple of small design tweaks. First, it runs small, so I had to go up a size from Large to XLarge. This is because it is tight across the bust area, and also across the hips. Second, I have found with MANY designers of XL sizes, that they tend to make the length of the sleeves and skirts/pants so much longer. WHY?? Just because someone is a bit larger than average, it does NOT mean their arms are down to their knees, or that their legs are a foot longer. It just means they are bigger around the torso. The XL of this coat has extra long sleeves, down to my fingers, and is extra long in the length, so that it falls below my knees. This is the reason for the 4 stars.

AWESOME jacket for sub-zero temps
I can't say enough about this super warm, comfy jacket. It has stood up to some arctic weather (Minnesnowta) and kept my freeze-baby self quite cozy. It feels like I'm wearing a giant sleeping bag. I have never owned such a warm, cozy jacket in my life. Worth EVERY penny!!!

Warm warm warm!
Generally happy with this purchase (happily it was on sale), considering my initial intention was one of those pricey Canada Goose ones. So far the coat seems to have withstood below freezing temperatures and wind chill in Chicago pretty well. With a sweater and long-sleeved t-shirt underneath I didn't feel anything walking against the wind at -11C/12F.I'm 5'4'' and the coat came to just below my knees. The hood gave much needed warmth to the ears and did not really hinder my vision. Because I have a bad back, the weight of the coat is slightly heavy for me when I wear it standing/walking for long stretches, but it's not unbearable given how insulating the coat is.

Definitely more of a European-Sized coat, ideal for tall and thin
Very nice style and quality appears good. Simply cut small, ideal for tall and thin ladies.

Fabulous
It's exceedingly warm and comfortable while still being lightweight and convenient. I found it expensive but very well worth it when I received it. I'm very pleased with this purchase

Finally a warm BUM!
I live in a winter wonderland, and I was tired of a cold bum. This coat is lovely. It hits almost to my knees, the 700 down fill is super warm, and the exterior is nice. I don't love the shell portion - feels like a down sleeping bag on the outside, but it's totally fine. We don't usually have wet snow, just cold, dry snow, so I haven't tested the water-resistance.I'm 5'8", narrow build (140, small chest, narrow-ish hips, belly of a mom that's had 4 kids). I bought a medium. It fits so nicely compared to other coats I've tried (I have many - see winter wonderland comment above). Full arm articulation, no tightness through the body. It's super warm, and I've been almost too hot in 20F weather, but since it will only be colder, I love it. I also like the soft cuffs and that the lining isn't super cold when putting it on like some other coats I've tried. Those cold lining coats are worse than climbing into non-flannel sheets in the winter - WHY WOULD ANYONE DO THAT TO GOOD PEOPLE??My two minor complaints which are bearable for the cost savings compared to the more expensive options, are how narrow the walking space is when fully zipped - I feel like I'm walking in a tightish mini-skirt, not a normal thing for this farmgirl. But I can unzip up the bottom to improve movement, just a bit inconvenient to do before climbing into the car.And my other complaint is that the zipper takes a few tries to seat itself so it's not the smoothest zip up experience.I tried a Land's End coat that fit terribly, both potential sizes - way too small and way too big (S/M). Then I tried another mid-thigh option but it was lacking fill power and just wasn't warm enough. My husband also vetoed both other coats for being too frumpy too, but he liked the chevron pattern and design on this one. More importantly, he said I looked a lot warmer.I also don't dig the furry hood trim, so that got taken off pretty quickly - like in five minutes. It might go back on if weather gets nasty, as it is prone to do.

This jacket is amazing but it runs smalllllllll
I had the fight of my life with Amazon because I bought this jacket and then the next day Amazon put it on sale for like $60 off an refused to price match themselves. So I ordered it again at the sale price and then returned the first one. Not pleased with Amazons lack of customer service, but very pleased with the jacket. The inner sleeves are some fleecy type of stuff so they don't freeze your arms when you put it on AND it makes a cuff under the wrist of your sleeve so that nothing gets in there. The Caveat: I measure in at 5'7", I am between 145 to 150 LBS, my bust is 38", waist is 30" and hips are 40-41". I normally wear a medium T shirt and size up to a large jacket because my arms are kinda long for my body.I got an XL in this jacket and it fits great! its not a fitted style. So you wont look like you're wearing a cinched waist trench coat, but thats OK because you aren't... You're literally wearing a down parka because you're cold so embrace it. I have never purchased anything in an XL in my life and I decided to do so because I watched a youtube video that I found by entering the jacket name and size. I saw the lady try on an XL and it looked smaller that I expected so I decided to wing it and return if it didn't fit. If you take the fur trim thing off of the hood, the hood won't deep enough to wear really. I can positively confirm this because I have an absolutely tiny head and it still wasn't deep enough to stay on my head well without the fur. Good news is the fur will probably grow on you once you find out that it keeps snow out of your face REALLY well. The arms also have little fleece cuffs inside of the

Warm and very well-made coat
This is a very warm coat as others have said and as some have tested in much colder climate than in the UK. It is very comfortable to wear, weight is probably appropriate to its warmth. There are two inner pockets which I find very useful. I think it would look better on taller people. I am 5 '2 wearing S, the coat comes down to one inch below my knees so it does swamp me a bit.Update: This is the second winter I have had this. I found this year colder than last and I have found that I can’t live without this coat. It is super warm so there is no need for bulky layers. I usually just have a cotton top underneath and the coat keeps me very well insulated. For comparison I also have the Northface arctic parka and the Patagonia tres 3 in 1 coat. The Marmot is by far the warmest and most comfortable. Obviously the other two have better weather resistance having water-repelling outer shells. That said I was caught in a heavy shower once while wearing the Marmot. The outer fabric looked pretty soaked but after I hung it up upon arriving home the fabric dried completely in no time. I am so impressed with this coat that I have decided to buy exclusively Marmot down coats for my children from now as I believe they are quality products and one of the warmest on the market.

It’s warm, elegant, and made to fit by waist size (xs is 25.5 inch)
The XS is for a 25.5 inch waist, any larger then this will be super snug - I only know this as I've gained an inch after the hols. The design is elegant; the length reaches my knees (5ft 4), and doesn’t make me look like a Michelin man.To compare it against my North Face Metropols, the Marmot is superior. TNF doesn’t look as elegant and isn’t as warm as the Marmot Montreaux for several reasons:Marmot has cuffed the sleeves meaning the cold can’t creep up the arms.Marmot has added a faux suede type fabric inside the arms and also inside part of the inner lining, which keeps you warmer.Marmot has a smaller hood that sits close to the head, whereas north face metropolis has an enormous hood that’s not only visually ugly but can be blown off the head easily. The filling is generous and the cut is flattering to the figure.Marmot keeps me warm in windy and cold conditions whereas my North face metropolis only kept me warm in semi-cold conditions.Hope this helps.

Great coat. Shame about the hood.
Great coat in so many ways. Very lightweight and very warm (I put it in for size inside and had to take it off really quickly as it’s so effective). Good mid navy colour, not that unflattering dark navy. Not fantastically flattering - think the model must have been very slim! Length just on knees - I’m 5ft 7 and a size 12/14 ....... BUT when I pulled on the hood (great fur, BTW) it was HUGE and flopped right over my eyes. All visibility gone! I tried to turn it up but because of the shiny material that doesn’t work. I’ve got other cheaper coats with hoods that are wearable. I needed an extra warm long coat - and the hood wasn’t ever going to be just for show. So if you’re never going to use the hood/you have a massive head .... it’s a great coat. A thought : it’s not because I have a short neck either, in fact the contrary. With great disappointment I’m returning it. I’d love to know if this happened to other people? Is it a one-off?

Fabulously warm coat
I was a little apprehensive when ordering this coat, having read a number of reviews, about sizing. However, I needn't have worried. I am a size 14, 5'10" and the Large was perfect, even with a thicker jumper underneath. The length comes to my knees, which I really wanted and didn't expect. I wore it this last weekend when going to Brugge in Belgium, where it's surrounded by canals, therefore can get really rather cold when the wind gets up. I was as snug as the proverbial bug. I love the lined pockets, which were cosy. The extra internal pockets are useful too. The hood is a little big, but liveable. The coat is very lightweight too. Really very pleased with this purchase.UPDATE: I originally bought this coat to travel to the furthest north you can go, in Norway, in November. I wore this, along with layers underneath and was toasty all the time. A brilliant buy!

It is ok for cold up to -2/4 degrees
I got it more than one year ago. I would say that in my opinion is overly priced. I bought for italian Winter and in my opinion it does its job only for not very low temperatures. I wear it with -2/-4 degrees and it is ok but not extremely warm, I mean cannot stay outside for hours feeling warm. I never tried on colder weather. Also the finish of the jacket and the general impression is that it is cheap, the fake fur is extremely fake and not very soft, the zip is hard to close. The good thing is that is very light and soft and confortable. It is made in Vietnam.
