Good match for OEM paint.
I have a "Dark Silver Metallic" 2008 Buick Lacrosse, and I had a heck of a time finding the OEM paint code. It was on the trunk. This paint matches better than most OEM paint pens.Paint pens are not a "perfect" repair and they're never going to be, but they're a lot better than a 10 foot problem or (especially) having a nice new rust spot on your car! Many body shops advise against paint pens, and in fact they're not for everyone. If you're driving a leased vehicle and you get a scratch, you're going to get dinged a lot worse when you turn it in at the dealer having "fixed" the scratch with a paint pen because their body people are going to have to remove the paint from the pen and then fix the scratch properly. In fact, many OEMs have an "allowance" for wear and tear that's pretty lenient. So look at what it is and decide if you really want to hurt yourself more with something that may turn out to look like toenail polish that you're not going to get past the person at the dealership. That having been said, if you own a 14+ year old Buick and you're like me and you're just trying to drive the car and forestall having it turn into a total rustbucket, paint pens are great. Look, you're never going to drive a car that stays perfect forever, but I see a lot of people driving around in cars that are just 3-4 years old (Illinois, rust belt), and they look way worst than my cars because they got a scratch or a ding that went down to the metal, ignored it, didn't put anything on it. Could had just barely touched it had they gotten to it right away, and now they have half-dollar sized spots where there's rust bubbles and the only way to fix it would be to go to the body shop and replace entire panels for thousands of dollars.Don't let your car turn into that because you can't be bothered to get some cheap paint pens.
