Q: How do I attach the lanyard to the board?

In one of the corners you’ll find a hole diagonally in the frame. I pushed the cord thru with a pin then sent the end of lanyard thru the loop.

Q: Is this board lighted? I understood lcd to mean lighted but after purchasing, it does not seem to be lighted. Is Function of battery only to erase?

I bought this despite reading in one of the reviews that it, in fact, was NOT back lit. I just looked and couldn't find that particular review. It doesn't seem to have dampened my 5 year old granddaughter's enthusiasm for it.
