Anthrax: Among The Living

2000 AD gets Anthrax
I am a big fan of Among the Living and also graphic novels. This is an album themed edition of 2000AD comic, with the "I am the Law" track actually being a Judge Dredd story (no real surprise). Some of the stories have a "Thargs future shock" vibe. So if you like 2000AD then this is a no-brainer, if you don't know 2000 AD then think anarchic comic meyhem with a variety of styles to the stories but very suited to the irreverence of Anthrax.Anthrax is still the loudest band I've ever heard live and this collection is close to the loudest I've ever read.

Superbly illustrated comic book.
Big Anthrax fan so decided to buy this. Don't usually buy graphic novels. There is a story for each album track from Among the Living. The illustrations are stunningly good and varied. However, I found the stories themselves a bit weird and unpleasant but I guess all graphic novels are like that? Definitely worth a look if you like Anthrax.

Great band; Poor graphic novel.

A long way from the original songs. Fell well below my expectations.
I love Anthrax, and I was disappointed by the comic book all the more so.The stories are boring, inconsistent, lack the suspense and are almost meaningless. I expected them to, roughly, follow the plot of the (excellent) songs in the 1987 album, but instead I had to trudge through mostly unexciting annotations to the baffling sketches. Apart from I Am the Law, none of the other stories have even a distant relation to the songs. Most stories seem to have been torn from some context, and it was hard to understand the chars . It's not enough to just depict a psychopath or madmen, their actions and/or motivations have to be clear too.The one that particularly stinks, is Indians. If these superheroes are such nature-lovers, and industry-haters, where and how did they get these superhero suits and advanced weapons? Certainly not from growing plants and fishing. Duh.
