LOVE it!
We would be lost without this product. Fact. When our daughter was born we lived with family whilst our flat was getting sorted. It was a four bedroom detached house full of people. It wasn't appropriate to be traipsing into the back garden at silly o'clock in the winter and whilst people were sleeping so I kept this in the corner of the room. We're now in teh flat and it's on the first floor. Once again, not appropriate (and also tiring) to be up and down the stairs with every nappy...and I'm quite fussy about things hanging about the place so didn't really want a carrier back of stinky nappies kicking about so this is ideal. It's not oerly expensive and does EXACTLY what it says on the tin. Please don't be fooled by the people complaining that there are no instructions. The unit comes ready made, all you need to do is install the cartridge. Admittedly, it did take me a few minutes (less than 5) to figure out the clasp at the back of the unit but once I popped that open and got a hold of the cartridge, I could easily read the instructions wirtten on the cartride. It is very easy to put in and takes mere seconds. The product itself is very good, you can fit quite a lot in there, especially if you wrap your nappies up tightly...you get more bang for your buck!! Each cartridge currently lasts a month or so, and we change the unit about every week. It'se very easy to change the bag and start a new one, simply use the in-built cutter and the tie a knot in the 'sausage skin'. Very, very simple. I've not had any problems with smells...obviously shut the lid, and it's not overly huge so it fits nicely in a corner, or, as we have it, beside your change unit. I would strongly recommend this to ANY new parent!! A definite must for the baby-savvy :)

Brilliance!
Hi everyone... I picked this one based on the reviews that I have read and I have nothing but great things to say about it. Very easy to assemble...those that say its not obviously have no common sense...and then didn't think to pick up the instructions. If I can do it, trust me, anyone can. Very easy to empty and contains all smells brilliantly. To be honest, it just makes sense to have one in reach of the changing area and it means that everything is as simple as it can be when changing your little one, no separate bags, no thinking to have to make an extra trip to the bin incase its a potent one and it holds so many nappies that it only needs emptying every four days ish. The cartridges aren't that expensive based on how long they last (weeks) in comparison to how many nappy bags you'd go through to contain the smell in the same way, and the system itself is so cheap and doesn't look out of place in a nursery. Thank you very much for making this a brilliant, simple and sensible thing to have.

Not so smelly diapers
Our new born is breastfeeding and although the nappies are not particularly smelly, you can tell when they have been filled with baby poo! This bin is good for locking in the smells of the dirty nappies with its clam shell like contraption inside even with the top lid open. In terms of operation, there is no need to twist the nappies like some other brands, but simply open the top lid and push the dirty nappy through the clam shell mechanism which then closes and 'eats' the nappy. The bin liner automatically feeds out of the dispenser as you push the nappy through and the entire operation can be done with one hand. Here are some precautions to think about before buying: I can see some people may not like the feel of pushing the nappy and their hand through the clam shell mechanism particularly as a dirty nappy is just on the inside, but I personally have not felt that it is unhygienic as new bin liner is being fed through each time. That being said, I still wash my hands each time. The bin is not tall so requires some stooping over if it is placed on the floor. I have it on a side table so it is higher up. Even though the bin is inexpensive, the liners are not particularly cheap. I hope to be able to update this review later with how many we are using. At this time, I am happy with this bin, but I will try to update this review as the nappies become larger and smellier. Update: I could no longer fit any more nappies in the bin and opened it up ready to remove the contents. There is a very handy bin liner cutter inside the bin which I did not know about so I put the scissors down which I had already retrieved. I counted 24 dirty new born nappies inside, this was the absolute limit that I could fit. Making the bin ready again was easy enough. Pull some of the liner out and pull it across the cutter. Iie up the end of the used section and tie up the new end of the liner and you are ready for the next batch of nappies.

A simple idea - well executed - essential item for a new nursery
-- Update 15 January 2010 Our son is coming up to nine months old and (apologies if you have stumbled on this review by accident but I assume most readers are new parents) the "contents" of his nappies can be quite eye watering now that he is munching his way through steak, bananas, porridge, liver and other delights. I stand by all that I said below and would like to add that I am very, very glad I did not try to make do with the non-glorified version each time I take a hermetically sealed tube of evil out to the bin... -- Original Review I was sceptical about this device when it was recommended to us by a friend - it seemed like nothing more than a glorified bucket (such as the nappy bin from Mothercare we had been using in my baby son's early weeks) but I am now very much converted (even though it is basically a glorified bucket...). There is nothing especially complex about this bin but what it does it does very well. It works by providing you with a "sausage skin" tube of strong plastic which lines the bin. By tying knots in this tube, one produces a hygenic lining for the bin itself and also a sealed bag for used nappies. - cartridges are easy to fit, remove and replace - nappies are completely enclosed in plastic even as you push them into the device so no mess escapes and the bin never needs cleaning - nappies are sealed away behind a spring-loaded lid elimating odours - once the bin is full it is easy to open it, use the built-in cutter to cut and tie off a full bag of nappies which is now completely sealed and then tie a new knot to carry on - the plastic is strong and has never let us down You can decide for yourself if this is value for money. You will need to empty the bin once every few days (in our experience with a four month old) and you will need to purchase a three pack refill once every 5-6 weeks. On Amazon this will cost you about £10. If spending a couple of pounds a week is worth it for the convenience outlined above then this is for you but, of course, if it is not then a (non-glorified) bucket with carrier bag lining will perform the same function without the simple elegance this product affords.

Keeps the smell at bay
Ill admit, my wife bought one of these from a different store and when i seen it, i thought it would be useless and a money racket when it comes to refills. Well, I am now eating my words as i went and bought another. They are amazing, keeps the smell at bay and holds a lot of nappies. The refills are cheap based on how long they last and you can get them in boots and most chemists. We have twins and easily change 15-20 nappies a day. So putting that many into the kitchen bin or black bin is just asking for a smelly time. You pop the lid open and push the nappy and forget about it until you cant fit anymore in, easily open and tie and cut and the big sausage of air tight smell is put in the outside bin.

Great!!!
When our daughter's nappies started to dominate our whole flat with their smelly presence and we had to wrap them in a bag one by one cause they were so stinky.... we tried buckets with lid, and several other methods which ..... did not help. We ordered this being a bit skeptic, but it turned out to be FANTASTIC. Nappies stay in and so does the smell! The top lid closes very well, and inside this you have a small system where you push the nappy through this kind of trap that closes once the nappy is in (tricky with the very filled ones, but not sad stories yet...). The result is that it keeps the smell very much inside, now we can keep the bin in the room and is perfectly fine. Emptying the bin is very good as it open in the middle and allows you to cut and tie a knot with minimum smell (granted there might be a bit of a buff of smellyness but very very little). This way you can easily dispose what we call "the sausages of doom" easily with the rest of the rubbish. Great, super helpful. Would definitely recommend.

A God-send
I was initially skeptical when my wife suggested we buy this. On the face of it, this is quite a lot of money to spend when you have perfectly good bins lying around. But what this bin does is to eliminate the stench of a set of twin's dirty nappies (note - I'm sure that this will work on all babies, not just twins ;-)) Once you've worked out how to fill the bin with it's bags (and the instructions are printed on the actual bin), it's simple to use. With our twins, we are using a cartridge about every two weeks. We have a friend with a single baby (not sure if that's the right way of putting it), and she uses a cartridge a month. Warning Dads ('cos this is Dad's work), it still smells when you have to empty the bag. The one criticism of this bin is that when you close it it is sometimes difficult to line the two halves up. But it’s a minor niggle. Parents - buy this bin, your nose will thank you.
