Brilliant!
Why hadn't I heard of this sooner? I've been doing DIY for over 20 years and one of the worst jobs is cleaning out brushes that have been used with gloss paint. I've even tried the water based gloss, but was unimpressed at how quickly it started to discolour. The Brush Mate is simply a lidded plastic container that contains some metal clips halfway down that you can clip your brush handles in. A pouch on one side contains the 'vapour pad' that's a little smelly, but you can't smell it once the lid is on.Having read other peoples reviews and questions I purchased some wooden handled brushes to use with it, and so far I've not had any problems. Before I put a brush away in the Brush Mate, I will remove any excess paint on a bit of paper towel. I will then give the brush a quick wipe down once I take it out again. This is so much easier than trying to clean brushes with white spirit or brush cleaner. For your average home DIYer this is a brilliant piece of kit and I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Brilliant
I first came across one of these when I started working as a volunteer in the paint shop of our local preserved railway. As they were using two small and one large Brush Mate I thought I really must try one at home. It has been really useful in removing the need to clean brushes fully after every use. This saves lots of time and lots of expensive white spirit. It is best to wipe excess paint from brushes before storing in the Brush Mate. Note that the vapour may dissolve paint on brush handles so it's worth thinking about plain wooden handles. Use with oil based paints only. Fully clean brushes when changing colour. I would have awarded five stars but for the fact that the spring clips that hold the brushes need to be regularly pinched together to avoid the brushes falling out of the clips.

Really Works!
I didn't know what to expect from this. I've been using epoxy paints on a log cabin, and didn't want to clean the brushes twice a day. This magic box really, really works. Brushes have stayed wet and ready for use again for 4 weeks! The pad inside smells quite strongly, and is sure to be bad for you, so give it a bit of room when you pop the lid off.

Brilliant bit of equipment. Saves the life of brushes did nt clean as about to use later! Can use a brush for the same job over quite a long time without it drying out or having to be cleaned. Totally recommend!

Works very well
Works well but is expensive for what it is. The clips inside are truly useless - the brushes end up in the sludge in the bottom of the container. I raised the metal gubbins inside with a strip of thin steel all round and it is better now. Wouldn't be without it despite these reservations.

Easy to use
I wish I had discovered this before. If you are using solvent based paint this does a great job of storing the brushes without bothering to clean them. Works for months!

Brilliant and worth every penny. We now have two.
What a difference a Brush Mate makes. Put your gloss/eggshell/varnish brushes in and they stay fresh. No more washing out brushes after every painting session. No more brushes oozing water down the handle when you use them the next day. Pop the brush in the box and carry on painting with when you are ready - days, weeks or even months later.

Quite Good For THe Money.
Quite Good For THe Money. But you have to consider that you have to change pad inside case, roughly every 5 months to make sure brushes stay flexible. This product would really suite a Painter & Decorator best.
