Bottle Up and Go! The Magic of Hoodoo Container Spells in Boxes, Jars, Bags, Bowls, and Buckets Review: Expertly Written - An amazing book chock full of useful information. If you want to know how to create your own container spell, this is a must have! What I like best about this book is the organization and ease for the reader to assimilate quickly. This book isn’t for dilettantes; it’s a practical book for people who are serious about container work for different conditions. A book I will refer to many times. Catherine Yronwode proves once again her sublime expertise in the magical arts. The editing, sheer perfection. Highly recommended! Review: Tell me a story - This book is so cool. It has good instructions for how to make up the works, but the best part for me is the way that stories and anecdotes are included in the instructions. For me and my background it was just so charming and really humanizing to the whole thing. For example: “Miss Cat tells how a sugar jar saved the baby: Back around 1966 an older Black woman told me how she had made a healing jar for the sickly little baby of the woman she cleaned house for” and the story goes on explaining in detail how the jar was made. I LOVED this format and read it like a fun book, not just an instruction manual or recipe book. Also, these things work. They do.

Packed with info on how to work justice magick
This little book is filled with info on traditional ways that subjugated and impoverished people have used magick against their powerful oppressors and personal enemies to obtain justice and protection in an unjust world. This is NOT the right book for a peaceful Wiccan, with white privileges, who follows the threefold rule and is into always turning the other cheek no matter what.

Interesting and useful
This is a great book. I like that the spells come from a wide variety of sources instead of just one author's collection. It gives it depth and makes it interesting. I also loved all of the history included in this book. It references a lot of interviews with actual root workers in the early to late 1900s that gives spells how they were done in the old days. It covers a wide range of topics giving spells and practical advice on all of them. I'm sure I'll be using this book a lot.

A little different than I was expecting.
So, again this book was a little different than I was expecting. Although, it's got some really great stuff in it. I'm already utilizing a lot of the recipes from this book & made myself a nice Black Hawk Bucket. I recommend it; the books are not a huge investment so even if you don't enjoy it, or don't have much use for a lot of the stuff in it, it's worth it.

When I received this in the mail here in Australia - I absolutely loved it! There’s nothing like it here; & I was fascinated to learn about the different materials, unique patterns, & psalms they incorporated into their spell work— & plus the use of real-life examples they pulled from magazines & newspapers makes it even more relatable. It would be fantastic, if they included a separate series with recipes - their different types of waters, like 'Florida Water & Moon Water', it sounds all so intriguing! I could easily see a mini-series covering some of the commonly used items such as these different 'herbs, & waters,' in this collection. Fantastic job! Thankyou!

Excellent reference work (if a little expensive for a short book -this is probably because it’s an import). Densely packed with both historical information and practical details, this is a solid introduction to the field of container working, both in the conjure tradition, and more generally.
