1:24,000 Scale Pocket Size UTM Grid

I've used Map Tools products for many years. There are simply no better tools out there for accurately navigating using a map. The scales are always dead on, the type is easy to read, and they are durable! Along with your order John will include a number of free items, scale calculators, topo map information, and a nifty card printed on waterproof paper with the declination and other data for your zip code. All free and all very useful. It's a pleasure to purchase from a company that is so obviously invested in customer success. Knowing how to use a map and compass is an essential skill, and no one should venture into wilderness areas without a paper map back-up to your phone or GPS device. With Map Tools products using the map is easy, accurate, and fun, and it just might save your life.

This is an excellent map tool. Line it up with a UTM grid and read off coordinates, couldn't be easier. Excellent support from maptools.com also. Arrived in the mail a full week ahead of promised delivery, and included several very nice resource documents including a custom guide to local magnetic declination (based on my Zip Code) and very professional training materials for reading maps and using the UTM coordinate system. The maptools.com website also has lots of support and training information. The only limitations I can see is that the finest division is 50 meters (although it's not that difficult to estimate to within 10 or 15 meters), and it's somewhat difficult to mark a spot on the map -- you have to "eyeball" the position and them move the tool out of the way to make the mark. For this reason I just ordered one of their slot tools with 10 meter divisions and a slot that allows marking directly on the map. I really think this tool is all I need 90% of the time (or more), but I couldn't resist ordering the slot tool just in case I might need it. One more comment -- I've found that the caltopo.com maps print out perfectly at 1:24000 scale and these tools match up with them exactly.

This is great I ordered maps and then this for them it lines up exactly with the grid lines. Additionally they sent training materials with it.

I have one in each of my bags. It's made of the nice thick plastic that doesn't get destroyed with use. Works perfectly on the maps and the only time I've ever had to replace one was when I lost it. Great quality, great item!

My husband uses this for search and rescue.

There is much one can say about this except it is a handy little tool to keep in one's navigational map case.
