Just too much...
This book reminded me of my childhood, when I thought that the longer the sentence, the cleverer the writer. Luckily, I had my dad and his red pen to add couple of big bold dots to any school essay I showed him. While reading this book I realized that I had to re-read some of the sentences several times before I understood what is going on (or worse, that nothing much, really). Later I just skipped or fast-read them. One example for all:“After spending an hour and a half dealing with Ted Weathersby's pompous posturing and general obnoxiousness at the latest council meeting, he'd ended up having to meditate a scene between Becky and Walt Danneker in the middle of the Cove's one and only intersection that had involved single-handedly keeping Becky in her vehicle while convincing Walt that if Becky's temperature was where the doctor said it needed to be and Want not only wanted children, but wanted to keep Becky from doing something that would permanently prevent him from ever being able to have them, maybe he should reconsider his afternoon meeting and go home with his wife.”What bored me more, however, was the feeling that the characters had to say everything they had on their mind (after we read in great details what was on their mind) and then the same was re-told (re-thought) 3rd time by the listener. Two minutes long dialogues dragged on for pages, as each sentence had to be commented by the characters’ inner voices into such details, that at certain point they simply became irrelevant. I don’t need to know every single inner thought of the character to make a good picture of him/her to fill this up myself. What’s more, at a certain point I realized I don’t see a difference between Logan’s and Alex’s inner-voices anymore. They might have similar experience, fears or even feelings, but how they would normally express themselves differs in the real world (and this is what makes the life, and books of such topic, interesting). The same would apply to subplots, which were often described into incredible level of details including the family history and family trees of supporting characters otherwise mentioned in the book maybe twice. Don’t get me wrong, I am a very detailed oriented person and generally enjoy lots of them. But the details have to make sense to at least the plot.Last but not least I had a feeling I am in a constant struggle of the author trying to use sophisticated and uncommon words on one hand, while on the other the book was full of cliché phrases and so called life truths coming from the most predictable characters (bartender, diner owner, mystery shop owner, …). As a non-native speaker I always appreciate to pick up new words or phrases here and there. But while reading this one I really had to wonder if elder bartenders in Maine have some sort of weird linguistic hobby which makes them talk like from a brand new social class.Overall, I did not enjoy the book as much as I expected based on the former reviews. It was my first from this author, hoping I could find another good one who writes in series, yet I am doubtful if I will purchase any more.

Fun read
Interesting characters, especially the female and male leads. The premise of a woman in what most folks would consider a vocation for men, restoring lighthouses, was very intriguing. I loved the very likeable uncle who ran the pub as well as the older woman who owned the antique store. They were delightful.Character development was better than some of this genre although the author does succumb to the commonly-shared affliction that many romance authors do - thinking that if one really good description of a character works well, the repeating that many times is ok. Story line and character development actually suffer from that ploy. Still, I would read another book by Kauffman.

Read about the Bachelors before the Brides
This is part of a series about Blueberry Cove and this series about the bachelors should be read before the series of the brides. I read them the other way around and already knew some of the outcomes because I read about the sisters of the main character in Pelican Point but his story should be read first.

Logan and Alex
I loved this book. Alex came to town to restore a lighthouse, needing to figure out out if this is w hat she wanted to do with her life. She was worn out and fainted in the sheriff's arms. And the story continues with humor, romance, and a little intrigue.

Blueberry Cove, Maine
I really enjoyed this story...I am from Maine (born and raised)! The little town of Blueberry Cove makes me wish I had grown up there instead of the smelly mill town I did grow up in although it was as friendly and as gossipy LOLThe characters were engaging, relatable and very well developed! Loved the story line as well as the laugh out loud moments!!

When I was in my 20s I enjoyed Romance novels
When I was in my 20s I enjoyed Romance novels. I have done a lot of reading over the last 40+ years and my taste in fiction is now more sophisticated. This story and writing style definitely belong to the very limp Romance genre. I kept reading simply because I wanted to write a review and warn other readers before they opt for this book. My interest was stimulated because the setting is in Maine and I frequently vacation there. In reality, the story is about a small niche of Irish descendants who populate a small, somewhat isolated Maine location. Nothing about the town and its people rang true to my experiences in rural Maine. This is a trite, slow read and more suited to teens who may be titillated by the boring, romantic scenes.

Aah , Blueberry Cove
I thoroughly enjoy these stories. They are romantic, sexy and easy reading. I look forward to Brodie's story next. Then the next one after that.

Excellent characters in a poignant story. A real page turner. Really like Donna Kauffman work, I feel that this book is worth what I paid for it.
