My hair stopped accepting color...until I found THIS
if your hair is damaged from over processing, resistant to pigment (no longer accepting color), dull and in need of serious TLC...THIS WILL BE YOUR NEW BFF. I recently had to do the Big Chop because I was trying to live the dream and be a light ash blonde (but my natural color is 4N and was dying it 4NN to hide grey for years. I knew this would be a process and we did it over time. Around a year later, I was ash blonde but had a few yellow, brassy parts that were bothering me so I went to my old stylist to have her bring it up by highlighting it with bleach. My hair was damaged to begin with because of the bleach, but it was not so bad that I could not fix. And the one savior I have when it comes to bleaching (even only with 20 developer) is, was and always will be COCONUT OIL. If i do not have a good layer of coconut oil in my hair prior to bleaching, it will break. Period. Well, she failed to put the coconut oil in prior to the bleach and my hair fell out, broke off so much that I could not fathom walking around with a quarter of my usual head of hair. So we cut it into a pixie. Which I had mentally prepared myself for when my hair started showing signs of damage a couple of months prior. Where the real stress came into play was when the new short cut would not keep the color. So I researched product suggestions and reviews for people who were in the same boat as I and Apogee came up a few times and was also recommended in Sallys by a beautician I spoke with in the store while she was shopping. ABSOLUTE LIFE SAVER. Now while the process is cumbersome, and the product doesn't smell good, it works. So know this...if you do not do your own hair very well, have someone else do this for you. Once this gets on your face, hands, neck, clothes etc., you will be super sticky and then it hardens = not fun. And READ THE DIRECTIONS! Do not move your hair once it starts to dry, it hardens and if your hair is in a fragile state, will break. Wear an old t shirt, and if you have a hair stylist cape, do so. But to err on the side of safety, have someone help you with the process. Don't let this scare you off of using it, because I'm giving you a heads up, the result is a savior in a bottle. So even if it's not uber damaged and not accepting pigment/dye and just damaged, still totally worth it. I will not go without doing this at least once a month now. My color lasts so much longer. And if the funky smell and process are the only cons, I'm more than willing for the trade off.

My hair is very damaged from bleaching it every 6 weeks and that horrible thing called menopause
You ever find yourself up at 1:00 am watching youtube videos on how people damaged their hair and what they did to fix it? Ya I don't either but that how I found myself buying this product. My hair is very damaged from bleaching it every 6 weeks and that horrible thing called menopause. Its brittle, coarse, unmanageable rats nest. It really is bad. I buy Olaplex by the gallon (bet you didn't know you could do that) and use it once a week. But between all the processing, pool and sun my hair just had it. I even contemplated cutting it as its so difficult to care for. So when I came home from work and found Aphogee sitting at my door steps I was willing to try another product. First of lets start with the shampoo, it has the pretty color of 80s shampoo (yes I'm that old) with its pleasant pink hue and varnish like smell. Immediately after I washed my hair I got nervous, it felt like I stripped everything healthy from my hair, it was very difficult to comb through, with very strong chemical smell. I towel dried it and applied the protein treatment which has texture of water, color of old tea and smell of bug spray. First off the product is difficult to apply due to its watered consistency. I managed to get enough on my hair, comb it with wide toothed comb and left it to dry. BIG mistake! the product ran off my scalp into every nook and cranny on my face and in my eyes. I decided to follow instructions and used hair drayer to dry the product. My hair looked like it did back in 80's it had this lovely sheen of Aquanet and the same texture. It was basically glued to my head. My vanity looked like a bunch of 5 year olds had water gun fight with sugar water and everything it touched was sticky. I rinsed off the treatment off my hair and used my normal shampoo which I followed with the conditioning treatment from Aphogee. My hair felt instantly better. I let it air dry and styled it in morning as normal. i noticed softness and flexibility to my hair I haven't seen in years. By all means my hair still shows some signs of damaged but overall its shiny, manageable and soft. So if you are like me and found yourself here after years of abuse to your hair, trust me, this product is amazing and will drastically improve the quality of your hair. My only suggestion is when applying product is to sit in a bathtub to contain the mess.

Bottle by bottle review!
Shampoo- The texture is interesting to say the least. It is an orange, slime-like, nonstick shampoo. It left my hair feeling rough but, I figured it's meant to do that. Two step- Smells like old socks for sure but, it's not a penetrating smell. It has the consistency of water so it is VERY messy. If you can have someone help you apply it over the tub, do it. It is a brown sticky liquid that dries hard. I have a lot of hair even though it is only up to my shoulders and it took 55minutes to fully dry under a blow dryer.Moisturizer- Very pleasant smell but, too thin to be the final step. I wish it was more of a deep conditioner.Final results- My hair was less frizzy and felt thicker if tht makes sense. I have dyed brown hair over an orangey red dye and after the treatment my hair seemed darker. I dont know if that is because, it stripped the underlying red or it somehow deposited a darker pigment??? Either way I liked the color change. I gave it 4 stars because the change was not as dramatic as I would have liked.
