The finned Aluminum cover fits 2004 Silverado rear, but might require metric 8mm bolts
FIT:I have a 2wd V6 2004 Silverado with the 10 bolt rear end. The finned aluminum cover fits it great on the rear.Gasket:You will need to buy a gasket.Bolts:This cover comes with nice SAE 5/16" bolts. They did not fit my 2004 model and the shop had to provide new 8mm metric bolts. Older vehicles use the 5/16" SAE bolts. New ones apparently use metric 8mm. I'm not sure what length was required, the cover is pretty thick. Because of the thickness of this new cover, the OE bolts are probably too short. I'd order this set of 14 ( 4 extra ) 30mm long, 8mm bolts from Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/Trans-Dapt-Performance-9283-Differential-Aluminum/dp/B01IDGFBTW/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_1?keywords=trans+dapt+9283&qid=1555110631&s=automotive&sr=1-1-fkmrnull.Drain plug:The included drain plug is not magnetic. I like to use a premium magnetic plug. I bought two 1/2" NPT plugs. One for the drain in the cover and one for the OE fill port in the housing. See photos. Get one that takes an allen wrench or 3/8 drive to preserve ground clearance.Clean Up:The cover had some sharp edges. I took a small file and knocked the sharp edges off the 90 degree corners of the gasket surface. Also, the bolt holes had sharp edges. I used a grinding stone, see photo, to clean up and chamfer the bolt holes on the gasket side. The drain hole had a little flashing on the I.D. on the inside. I was afraid these edges would catch and hold junk. I used the small grinding stone to clean the I.D. of the drain hole on the inside of the cover - the outside of the drain hole was clean and I didn't want to hurt those threads. After the filing and grinding, I washed the cover to remove the filings and debris from the stone. This is a great cover at a great price. It need just a little attention prior to installation. All on the work I did took less than 10 minutes. Just make sure you have bolts on hand that fit your axle

Item worked great, but, you may end up buying your own mounting bolts.
It fit and is of decent quality, provides the drain plug which is the feature I wanted most. It is 10mm thicker than stock and requires longer mounting bolts, which are provided. Problem is, it requires 10 bolts, only 7 were included that were the wrong thread (5/16 sae), 1 was included which was not even physically the (1/4") right diameter or length. Had to shop online for hardened bolt M8 x 30mm, so, the price and time spent needs to be accounted for in the overall price. Also, the drain plug is not magnetic, but, again an online shopping trip solves that issue, you really want a magnet in the cover, when you see the old steel cover magnet you understand why. The cover itself fits the 10 bolt yukon gear G80 locking differential just fine on my 2004 Silverado, although it is not listed as such, maybe the change to metric mounting bolts is why. Seems a little bit deeper than stock as well, so more oil which is a good thing.

does not fit Firebirds or Camaros
Contrary to what the description says this cover does not fit any Camaro or Firebird Camaros and Firebirds come with a 7.5 ring gear rear end

I do not like this cover !
(1)The cover has a defect that covers the oil port on the right side. I dont know if they are all like that but were not gonna use it ! (2) the nut for drain plug seems to be glued not welded and we dont like that.(3) the magnet on drain plug is too weak to work. We had to get another magnetic drain plug for six dollars.(4) the drain plug is too high to drain all the oil so only about half the old oil will be changed and thats no good at all. (5) the drainplug hole had to be filed smooth to seal properly because of low quality machine work! And the seal was very cheap and too big.. So i put it on too fast thinking it was ok but after closely examining its not ok and we will have to redo the job with a different cover at our cost that includes parts, labor and oil and thats not cheap. We do things right or not at all and this part failed.

Correct fit for my 8.5 inch Chevy rear.
There is a chrome plug/bolt on this cover that is too high to be a drain and too low to be a fill opening. The gear oil fill is typically is on the carrier itself and you drain the old gear oil by unbolting the cover from the carrier.

Chevy rear cover
I like the quality and looks. I took my time, cleaned old gasket off rear and permatexed the gasket to new cover. New bolts looked short but they worked fine. Put some wax on the cover hopefully to keep rust from it like the old one. Time will tell.

Poor quality, poor customer service, bad product
Received item and seemed ok until time of install. Noticed bolt does not align w/ threads and needs to be cross threaded due to misalignment of nut to hole. Further investigation proved that nut was not welded close enough to pan and daylight could be seen through the nut to pan which means it would leak. Customer service agued saying it doing what it intended and foam gasget would stop the leak. If that is the design intent I would never by this product. No inspection until shipped in the field and then they want me to pay for shipment back. I purchase another product that worked as intended and would never recommend this product unless you want water in your gear lube or your gear lube to leak out. Best of luck

Fits well
Used this (chrome stamped steel version) to replace the 10 bolt 8.5" rear diff cover on my 97 Silverado. Fit was good, quality seems good. No leaks yet. I used a Fel-Pro RDS55028-1 gasket and RTV on the drain plug.
