German Christmas Traditions

A well written and interesting book.
A fun read and informative. It covers a lot of traditions and gives some recipes. It was interesting to me as my Grandmother grew up in a German area of Kansas and we kept some of the traditions, but not the history behind them.

Could Be Better
It's just okay, if you know nothing of German Christmas traditions. So much more could have been included than just a Bavarian's take on the traditions. Certainly overpriced for such little content. I've got German cook books that have as much content as this little booklet.

Disappointed in contents
Received my book today, I was very disappointed in the contents, more about Christmas than actual recipes. Save your money, or buy the Kindle edition lots cheaper.

Good read-I can "feel" the German Christmas traditions
Short but decent text. Very interesting things from German culture. ***NOTE-I would have given it 5 stars if it had came with a blonde Lufthansa female flight attendant.

Too many inaccuracies to recommend.
I would not recommend this book. The translations are incorrect. For example, the word "crib" is used as the translation for "Krippe"when the accurate translation is "Creche", as in Christmas Creche, or Manger. Krippe comes from the German "Futter Krippe", which means the container the hay is put in to feed the animals, in effect, the manger. Also, the word "diaper" is used instead of the authentic "swaddling cloths". One of the recipes calls for "1/3 of a bag of baking powder or baking soda", I promise you they are not interchangeable and the recipe will not turn out correctly.

Perfect book to buy for grandkids to share German culture
Outstanding book! Excellent! This is one to buy and keep!. I wish this author would do books on other countries to share with my grandchildren 's different heritages. This is a rich book of culture. Thanks you so much for the wonderful information and the rich illustrations.

Flimsy
My German mother in law cried when she opened this book. I'd read the reviews so knew it would bring back happy memories.Shame it is a very flimsy paperback though.

The warm glow of childhood memories
This is a lovely guide to a German christmas. The Adventkrantz chapter brought backlovely memories we used the same one for many many years. In fact i think my parents still have it. is not something ive seen used here in the uk.I had dropped some of these traditions as i had got older but i shall be bringing a few back this year with my own children.

Fun
It's a fun book, not massively in depth so just appreciate it for what it is. Took me 15 min to read.
