Decent desktop
As some others have suggested, a very limited upgrade path/option if any. The Acer Aspire AT3-710-UR52 Desktop is based on a h11h4-ad2 motherboard, that either derives itself from ACER or ECS/Elite. That said we only get 1 extra ram slot and and PCIE slot that seemingly operates at x8 speed. As is, the desktop is quite nice. If we don't have much plans for enhancements or upgrades in power we do have a pretty good computing experience. The case is quite nice. We get a leather like top to the case which I find quite nice (I will attempt to provide product pics). We only get 1 extra ram expansion slot as well as 1 other pcie slot. Aside from that, that's it, we only get 2 sata ports that are utilized up by the hard drive and the optical drive. I will try to upgrade the system to an SSD drive and forego the optical. I will try and see if I can get the main OS on an SSD, the remaining software on the HD and see if I can work an external optical drive. As previously stated, the motherboard seems to be an h11h4-ad2 motherboard, which seems to come from ECS/Elite. At least we seem to be able to upgrade to 16GB ram by way of 1 extra ram chip, and perhaps a PCIE at x8, not full x16 bandwidth. We get nice wifi performance courtesy of the Wireless AC 7265 module installed at the m.2 slot. The Wireless AC gives us Data Link Protocol: 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g, 802.11n, 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE; Data Transfer Rate: 867 Mbps; Frequency Band: 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz. The motherboard/desktop tower is relegated to only hooking up to hdmi, so bad for legacy hardware people but not so much for us more modern hardware folks. As an internet only or basic computer this is quite nice, anything more demanding and we will find ourselves quite in distress. I'll keep you posted if any how I can upgrade this desktop. I upgraded this review from 4 to 5 based on further testing of the wirless AC module. Pics provided. I will do further testing with the Intel HD 530.

Great Computer for a Great Price
It is fast and the graphics are sharp and smooth. It has some bloatware but it is easy to delete. The 16 GB RAM and graphics card are outstanding features and make the game play much better. No complaints so far. Note that the first computer I received actually was missing some RAM. It only had 8GB RAM and I returned it to Amazon and got the current computer. So I would definitely check to make sure that the components are all there.

How in the heck do I plug in my monitor!?!
Maybe this is worth more than 3 stars, but I won't know until I go buy a new monitor, as this one cannot connect with the standard VGA that my not-super-old monitor has. Now I have to go to another store to purchase a new monitor, negating the ease of Amazon delivery and adding to the cost of the situation. Thanks Acer... REVISED REVIEW: have had this PC less than a year and have taken it in for servicing twice because it won't boot Windows. Today may be trip #3... 😡

Decent but with a couple issues
---WARNING!--- PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING! This product does have decent specs, i mean that 16GB RAM and the 2TB HDD... yeah! However if you're looking to make this PC into a low- or moderate-end gaming pc like i had planned then this might not be what you're looking for. If anything its a bit of a challenge and there's a couple things a new pc gamer should know. I bought a EVGA GeForce GTX 760 Super Clocked ACX 2GB GDDR5 SLI Ready Graphics Card from here at Amazon too, but it turns out it's far too big to fit inside the pc. The way the motherboard is built it is compact, its so small that the slot for the graphics is crowded by other plug-ins. The thick card just smashes them so it can barely reach the slot. I come to find that Acer brands build their PCs a bit compact so you're better off getting another brand or simply using a low-profile graphics card that will fit just fine. As a new pc gamer myself... I learned this the hard way. One more thing, as I must spell out the obvious... This particular PC does NOT have VGA slots built in, only HDMI. So you'll either need an adapter or buy a monitor with HDMI. I've owned a handful of computers in my life and i had NEVER encountered a pc that didn't have VGA slots built in. With that said, I'm giving it 4 stars anyway because it is a decent computer by itself. The storage space and processing is nice, plus Windows 10 is already installed so theres no need to download it and everything. Aside from the setbacks because of how its built, all thats needed is a cord or two and a smaller, low-profile graphics card in my case; its nothing really major.

Defective but still will keep due to low price
Good price but defective just like the last 3 items I purchased 'certified refurbished' Will keep it even thought it cost me 60 dollars to ship it to Acer repair in Texas. Got it for about 250 less than regular price and Acer shows that it is warrantied for 2 more months. Also purchase extended warranty due to the other two items I recently purchased ( a modem and router) being defective. They should not have sold any of those items. The modem network connection was completely useless - would not even light up led on computer or known good router. The router wifi worked great but the wan (internet port) was dead a door nail. The PC worked but would randomly restart. The 'Acer' light on the front of PC would go out then back on. The system actually powers down and back up. All bios and windows settings were OK - it actually powers off and on. Windows did not even do a memory dump. Ran memory checker and it showed bad ram at the 14gb area. Pain in the back but expected this and was prepared to send in for repairs due to the low price.

Excellent machine with lots of features
So far, the machine is working very well, although I had a few issues getting it set up and running. I think the issues were more to do with good old Windows 10 than the machine itself, because when I got those issues taken care of, updates made, it seems to be working great since. This machine offers a LOT of power and features for the price, which is far more reasonable than comparable machines from Dell or HP. So far, highly recommended.

Fast enough to edit photos rapidly, not reliable enough for regular use!
I burned up the motherboard on my Mid-2011 iMac (i5 21.5" with 16GB RAM) back in September and found myself without a computer for editing photos and 1080p video. When this computer went on sale for less than I could by a comparable components (mATX/mITX motherboard, i3-6100, 8GB RAM, etc, AND Windows 10 licence) I knew this was the route I was going to take. Does this rig work for editing photos? Yes! I thought the low-power Sandy Bridge architecture from my 2011 iMac was doing just fine until I imported about 100 raw files into Capture One on this machine. My jaw dropped. It handled each 16MB RAW file as quickly as my old machine worked with plain jpgs. I went to Userbenchmark.com and it appears that the high clock speed of the i3-6100's dual cores combined with the well above average I/O of the 2TB HDD combine to make it more responsive than you'd think a machine at this price point would be. I'm not saying it's as responsive as some of the SSD machines I've worked on, because it's not, but this HDD is fast enough that you aren't searching the couch cushions for change to buy an SSD as an immediate upgrade. Does this rig work for editing video? I don't know......yet. The HDD is definitely large enough for most 1080p work, but I haven't had a chance to edit anything since I've only had this computer for about a week now and I've been busy trying to catch up on editing all the photos of the past three months. Conclusion: This is the machine to get if you need a photo work station and you're on a budget. If you desire a really responsive machine, get the Crucial MX300 M.2 (2280) SSD which works with the SATA-only M.2 slot on the motherboard. I paid $350 (on 2016-12-22) for this and at the time nothing was all that close when it came to pace and space, even if I built it myself.

Wonderful "bang for the buck"
Wonderful "bang for the buck"! Lightning fast desktop with all the capability most any user could want or need. Paired it with a Logitech Performance Combo MX800 wireless keyboard/mouse and a beautiful ASUS VN279Q 27" Full HD 1920x1080 DisplayPort HDMI VGA LED Back-lit (LCD) Monitor and the result is fantastic. VERY highly recommended!!! :-)
