Great Beginners Entry Level Flute So Far
It is very difficult to review an instrument that you want to learn to play. When you first use it, you might think it is good, but any problems with keys don't show up until you learn it better. I have taken some time to learn this so far, and so far it is pretty nice.CASEThe case is tight fit, small, and easy to carry or pack in a backpack. It has a nice zipper, handles that velcro together, and a strap too. There is plenty of padding inside, and if anything, the fit is a bit tight. You have to be careful how to put this in when you put it away, because you don't want to bend any keys.POCKETThere is a front pocket that you can put your cloth, gloves, and cleaning tool in if you like, or you can keep your cleaning tool inside the tube as it is when it comes.DOES IT PLAY WELL?So far this plays well. It seems like the keys are all working and that the instrument is in tune. I am taking some time to learn this, however, so to an accomplished flutist, this could very well sound off or have some issues on some notes. So far, this seems to play well for me and I am happy with it.KEYSThe keys come with a lot of tiny pieces of foam in them to keep the keys from bending during transit. It is important that you remove all of them before you try to play. Some are in pretty tight, so be prepared to carefully work to get them out, even if you have to use tweezers.STAND?I did not see a stand anywhere in this set.THE BOTTOM LINEThis flute seems to play well and be in tune so far. It is a great introductory flute if you or one of your family wants to learn to play the flute but you don't want to buy an expensive instrument. The case is protective, but you have to be sure the pieces are put away properly so you don't bend the keys by forcing it in.MY RATINGFIVE STARS so far. I will update if I have any issues once I learn more as I continue to practice and grow in my flute playing.WHY WRITING INSTRUMENT REVIEWS FOR A BEGINNER IS DIFFICULT..I had reviewed a clarinet a while back that I was really happy with. Once I got to more advanced note playing, I was REALLY struggling. I thought perhaps it was because I just could not do it. Finally I took it to a musician who said he would look at it. He repairs them. He said that the keys were way off and after certain notes, not even HE could get it to play. He did what he could to fix it, but it was not working as it should have. I could not have known that as a beginner.

An awesome Beginner's Flute!
This is my first flute, but I've been around them, and many other instruments enough to tell that it's a great option for a beginner. As far as I can tell (still working on my embouchure, having previously been a Brass guy), the tone is great so far, and it's in tune. I assume the action of the keys is not as what you'd expect from something in a higher tier, but they certainly work, and feel very responsive when pressed. It's hard to fully judge the quality without having played others. But I have handled many woodwind and brass instruments, so I feel like I'm a decent judge of build quality, and this beats my expectations. This is no toy, it includes everything you'd need to start on a flute journey, at a price that can help eliminate buyer's remorse if you find out the flute just isn't for you (though I recommend keeping it up, as all instruments have a steep learning curve). I'm excited to keep going on this, and feel it will hold up through my early playing stages, so I can pass it along/help teach my kids when their old enough, if interested. One note: The product image and description mention a stand. This was NOT included. Not the end of the world, but it would've been nice, as the case only fits the flute when disassembled. Speaking of the case, it is legit, and includes a detachable shoulder strap.Overall, I'm very pleased/impressed, given how expensive reasonably playable instruments can be even at the low end.

Great beginner flute!
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE: My now 10 year old has been taking lessons for about 6 months and this is her playing the flute, so you know how it sounds (from a beginner). We've had no issues with it. Her teacher says everything is outstanding for a beginner flute!Original Review:I got this for my 9 year old beginner flute player. She's still working on her embouchure so I don't have a video to share, but I'll come back in a few weeks to add one. It's a very nice flute. Her teacher told us age 8-9 is right about the right age to start (even though kids aren't offered band instruments in school until around age 11). This comes apart and is adjustable, with a screw driver included for the flute screws. It comes with a cleaning tool and cloth. The tone is very nice when her teacher plays it. So I have high expectations that my daughter will do well with it. The case is very well made, and small. It fits in her backpack. It's soft outer shell but the molded inside is firm so it's not something that can easily be damaged even by a child who stuffs it in her back pack.Do note that it arrives packed for shipping. So all the valves have little foam wedges to keep them open during shipping. It takes a little bit of patience to get them all out. They're a light color and itty bitty in size. So if once of the valves isn't opening or closing correctly, look closer and you'll likely see you missed one of those foam pieces. I had to get a toothpick to remove one of them that was tucked in really far.Overall, we're thrilled with this instrument. It's an affordable way to learn a new instrument and my 9 year old is head over heels for it!
