What is the dust made of? Is this silica? This is not listed anywhere on the box. It may be very hazardous for small children to breathe in!

the block is made of plaster but if your child has asthma I recommend that you do not buy it because it gives off dust or buy a mask to disarm it

How big is the assembled skeleton?

49.1 cm L x 16.9 cm D x 19.7 cm H.

You can take it apart and put it back together. I learned the hard way when I messed up a few pieces and had to fix it. Obviously, once you have chiseled away at the bones, the debris is basically trash.
