I've been struggling to find the right space heater for certain rooms. I have a couple of small ceramic forced air units. They are small and put out a ton of heat very quickly but are incredibly noisy. I also have several radiant and oil-filled units. There are very quiet or silent but take a while to heat up, don't distribute heat well, and tend to be large and heavy. Is there a middle ground? Yes, the Vornado! It is not completely silent, yet quiet enough that I can use it in my studio and comfortably play guitar with it running. It moves heat around like nothing I've ever experienced. It's weird - it doesn't feel very hot right in front of the heater but the room heats up quickly. The thermostat seems to be effective and I like having two power settings. I often run heaters on low to avoid overloading circuits. Hmm, I may get rid of some other heaters and buy another one of these. I hope it is durable over time.

This Vornado AVH2 Advanced Whole Room Heater works great. It does take a little longer to warm a room than traditional space heaters (not much longer), but because of the way it works it keeps the whole room warmer much better. The heat ends up evenly spaced so you don't get cold as soon as you are a few feet away. We really like being able to set the temp. We would buy this again from this company.

The room it's in is small (250x350cm). Pulled it out of the box, power button, it seems it was preset to 73F and it heated up the whole room easily in no time. Outside it was 18F so this room was previously very cold at the start. Very satisfied, initially. I can update this review as I get more use out of it this Winter but so far so good.

I used to swear by Vornado. I've been using their heaters since 2015 and had really good luck with both their heaters and their support. The 2 we originally ordered gave up the ghost earlier this year so we had to replace them.I purchased 2 of this model. When they arrived I noticed a few differences. The packaging had removed anything that could cushion the unit in the box so anything that happens in shipping gets transmitted directly to the unit. They also changed the control cards on the devices so there is no longer a continuous fan with temperature control. Their temperature control cycles the fan on every few minutes to check the temp then turns on the heater if it determines it needs to. Not a deal breaker but very annoying since we like the ability to move the air around the room even when it doesn't need the heat. Of the newly purchased units, one was rattling when it came on (To the point it was disturbing our sleep) and the other quit after a month of use. We returned the 1st one immediately and the replacement on that was simply DOA. Wouldn't even turn on so we sent it back to Amazon for a refund. The second one we had to RMA since the return period for Amazon had passed. While it was working, it wasn't bad. It was quiet enough when it turned on that we could continue to sleep and while the temperature had a mind of its own, we could get it to a comfortable enough temperature even though the setting didn't match the room temperature. But it did die and we had to have it replaced. The company sent out a replacement that also rattled when it turned on. So we had to send THAT one back. The company has had the unit for 3 weeks now and hasn't replaced the device. This company is cutting costs in all the wrong ways and I can't support anyone that works this way.

This heater has no trouble warming up a good sized master bedroom or home office as long as you close the door. It heats slower than my Boston Floor-Upright Space Heater I bought in 2012, which I still use with no problem. That said, I would buy another Vernado heater, but not one with automatic climate control. The problem with automatic climate heaters is if the thermostat detects the indicated temperature, it will not function. You are then forced to use the continuous flow option which us limited to hi (1500w) or lo (750w), and that defeats the purpose of climate control because you are forced to heat the room warmer than you want.

The Vornados offer warmth and reliability. I don’t know why we waited so long to get a third one. I’m certainly glad we did!

Do not ever use with a power strip/surge protector or extension. Plug directly into a wall outlet. These units are so powerful, they really will heat a room but present a fire hazard if not used correctly. No surge protector!

I bought a vornado space heater a few years ago and it was probably the best space heater I ever bought, efficient, and heated up a room quickly and the thermostat functioned quite well. my only complaint was that it was short lived probably about 2 years. I bought two more anyway because I like the efficiency of the product, the quiet operation and it fit the space; this being one of the two I purchased. However, the thermostat is awful, let's just say it's a waste of electricity and for all intents and purposes NON FUNCTIONAL!!! I am constantly turning the dial down to shut it off, till it reaches a point where it doesn't come on when it should so I have to turn it way way up and then it wont turn off. TRASH!!! it's so sad to see when a company establishes a good reputation then starts manufacturing cheap trash.
