Fantastic bed!
Note: I'm not really using this bed as directed, so probably don't do as I'm doing, but I'm letting everyone know it's possible (i.e. don't do this with small children, I'm an adult and accept the dangers of removing the side railing of the bed). This is a really good bed for someone tight on space. I recently moved into a really small room and needed storage options, while simultaneously owning an elderly cat that can't make the jump up to a mid-loft bed--insert this Jr. loft! The steps are PERFECT and help my cat get up onto the bed, and there's lots of storage room underneath. I'm a 5' and 120 lb person, and this bed seems very sturdy to me (and even my boyfriend who is 5' 11" and 150 lbs, though we've never sat on the bed at the same time for obvious weight limit reasons). My mattress is much taller than recommended for the bed, and I have a 3" foam pad on top of that, so the mattress very easily cleared the side railing. For this reason, I didn't assemble the bed with the railing and am easily able to slide myself off the side without much problem. I've noticed very little change in regards to stability with the bed without this side railing. Again, if you've got a small kid in this bed, keep the railing for their safety; I'm just a small adult and know how to not fall off. Took a good 3 hours to assemble, but the parts were packaged and organized very well and it was a relatively painless process.

Perfect bed for my 3-year old! Couldn't be happier with the bed!
UPDATE*** As of April 7, 2015 nearly a month and a half since I assembled the bed, I have not had one problem with the bed. I had some extra time on my hands today with some rainy weather, so I took out the allen wrench and attempted to tighten all the screws. No need. With the blue thread locker i put on there during assembly, everything is still tight and sturdy. A very active 3 year old boy has not managed to tear this bed up yet and I doubt from the sturdy construction that he will be able to.I hope this helps your buying decision.******I bought this bed for my son for his new "big boy bed". We love it. It is the perfect height for my wife and I to tuck him in without having to climb up the bed like you would have to with a traditional bunk bed, and it isn't too high that if he were to fall or jump (most likely) off the bed, that he could hurt himself. I used a standard twin mattress with no bunky board or anything underneath. The supports are close enough together once you clip everything together to support a regular mattress. I bought one here on Amazon for like $95, and it came rolled up in a small box. You can read my review on the mattress there. As far as the whole buying process, Amazon got it out to me and it was supposed to be delivered on the 3rd day, but due to a winter storm and to bad road conditions in my area, I didn't get it for over a week past the scheduled delivery date. But, alas, it did finally come. The box is HEAVY! You will need two people to handle it. I unpacked it and laid all the pieces out on the floor so I could find everything, and from start to finish, I took about 3 hours to assemble it. I could have assembled it a little faster, but I chose to put the blue Locktite thread-locker on all my screws as I assembled it. I highly recommend that, so you won't have to worry about the screws coming loose after a three year old jumps on it for a month. It gives me a little piece of mind to know that they are locked it there, but not permanently so disassembly is possible if you ever need to in order to move, or sell, etc. You can pick the blue-glue up at any home improvement store for about $6.So, all in all, I think this bed was an excellent purchase. I would highly recommend the bed. It seems to be very sturdy and will last a long time, even with my rough and rowdy three year old son. I love the storage in the steps. The bottom part is a pull-out drawer, and we used that to put his cars and airplanes in, and the top part is a swing-out cabinet that we put a little storage bin with some Lincoln logs in. Perfect for toy storage.Buy it, you won't be disappointed. I will update this if anything changes and you guys need to know about it. For sure use the thread-lock!

UPDATE..... regret.....Worth it but takes forever to build
Wow this took HOURS to build. Not because it was confusing but because it was SOOO MUCH. It was like IKEA but better instructions and much better quality materials. My son LOVES it. I hope it lastsUpdate 2-4-18I am unhappy with this bed... it is such a big bulky bed and there really is not much space under. I thought it would be higher up so the play area underneath would be better....My kid has also gotten his foot stuck in the metal frame while he slept and that was upsetting...I had to add squishy tubing to the side rails because my child would hit their head and fall asleep on the rail....It was a big huge pain to put together and I have no idea how I would get rid of it which I want to....I want to buy something more sturdy and something bigger... maybe this is a good toddler bed if your kid won't fall out of it....???? But it's not great if your child is 4+I'm about to buy a bunk bed or better bed system for my other child and it won't be this one....

The build is terrible, but great bed!
I was in the market for a loft bed and I picked this one over the others due to the stairs over the ladder. I have both a 4yo and a 20m old, both who would be on the bed all the time playing, the stairs were a much better option. I was sure to read all prior reviews before buying, and felt good with my purchase. The box it arrived in was very long, and also VERY heavy. I unpacked everything, and was amazed at the amount of parts. There is also a book that is the instruction, but in actuality, its about 35 steps. If you have a hex screwdriver, I recommend using it. The little hex wrench that was included did a number on my hands. I also HIGHLY recommend 2 people. I did it myself but really needed the extra hands at time. Also, when assembling, do not tighten the bolts. Most times I had to go back and loosen stuff to get things together. The frame was a quick install, and the steps took a lot longer. All total, took me close to 5hrs to build it.Overall the bed is sturdy. I had a few hiccups with the build itself, but managed to get it all together with some profanity thrown in. There were 2 pieces that had damage to them, but I was able to put them on the inside and did not have any issues, though I was kinda disappointing there was damage to it. This is why I gave it a 4 star rating.

Great concept, poor design, terrible customer support
The concept of this bed is amazing and my son loves it so much. He is only 4 so we loved the jr. loft idea rather than having him as high up as the full loft beds. However, this is shorter than I expected and does not really allow for playing under the bed as much as I would hope. I am 5’2” and I can carefully sit under it without hitting my head, but my husband absolutely cannot. I wish it were 6” higher. Second problem is the railings. They warn you to only use with a mattress 6” thick, but that is a super thin mattress and even then there is not a lot of height to the railings to stop him from going over the side. I wish they were designed with a lot more safety in mind. Thirdly, the pieces don’t line up nicely for assembly. My husband said you have to loosen bolts on one side to get the holes to line up on the other and then go back and tighten the other side, so it is a tedious and repetitive process. Finally, a piece arrived completely broken, so we have been unable to fully assemble the stairs. We contacted the company to get a replacement part, and the process was a nightmare. After several tries through several avenues, we finally got an email back saying they have no more of that part in stock and don’t know when they are getting more. Their advice was to return it if we want. Um. No. We have already built this bed and my son is sleeping in it every night. We are not disassembling and returning it, we just want one simple piece! How hard can that be? So overall we love the concept, but are not thrilled with the product or with the company at this point. Take this into consideration!

CANNOT PRAISE ENOUGH!!!
If every piece of furniture came with this set up, I’d be a professional builder ! What an easy to read well instructed manual! There are a lot of steps but it’s is so easy to follow. My advice- DO NOT over tighten screws DURING assembly, it will make your life much easier.I learned my lesson the hard way and used a longer screw on the storage/step piece on accident and marked it up. Be sure you’re using the right length screws !! Otherwise, this was such a flawless set up. My kids love it! I highly recommend! You won’t be disappointed! 5*

Easy to assemble great product
We bought this bed for our 7 year old to help creat space in her small bedroom for her to play. I had been in the market for a loft bed with steps because I was worried she’d fall getting up in the night if I bought one with a ladder. I also didn’t want a standard loft bed as she’s still quite young and doesn’t need a ton of room underneath. It does it’s job and looks pretty great. It took us about 5 hours to assemble and was pretty easy. I do wish I had gotten the standard size now though. So if your on the fence about getting this one or a standard size go for the standard we’ll probably only get another year out of this one before we have to switch to the standard size.

Perfect for toddlers!
I'm a fan of DHP furniture. Everything I have purchased from them has been of great quality, and this little bed is no different. It is perfect for toddlers. It was purchased for my 3 year old. It's not too high, and very easy to get into. I love that it adds storage space underneath. It was quite easy to put together, and is very sturdy.

Building a bed from scratch would have been less trouble.
Packaging was heavily damaged upon arrival, 40% of the parts were badly warped or just not sized properly.. the bed is much shorter than presented.. the whole thing is an over complicated toddler bed that put my Husband and I to tears.. not only out of frustration at putting it together but also because we both threw out our backs and strained our biceps trying to manually screw in the self tapping screws as the "pilot holes" are not where they should be. Definitely needs a power drill if you want to save your arms. Its sturdy once we finally got it together but still wonky and crooked looking over all.. start to finish 7 hours to complete.. better instructions than Ikea, but shoddy craftsmanship, chipped paint.. and OH GOD how will we get this out of the room when we move??!! Price not worth it all..
