Are there dividers/compartments in the bigger section to separate a laptop from other items one might place in there? And is laptop portion padded?

Indeed it is, and more than just one compartment, reasonably spacious and padded.

Can this messenger bag be for women also?

This is a beautiful, well made bag that smells wonderfully of leather. Probably work for anyone who doesn't have a problem with former animal parts....

What kind brand of wax can use clean or restore to protect for bag?

Don't use wax on leather it will stain it big time
