Rome Tech CMOS Battery for Dell Vostro 15 5510 - Laptop Backup BIOS RTC 3V ML1220 with 2 Wire Cable

When my BIOS kept losing time, I knew it was time for the dreaded CMOS battery update. After much research, I learned that it wasn’t a simple matter of just replacing a bare watch battery on the mainboard and that laptops favor rechargeable batteries nowadays. So, after confirming this was indeed the right part for my Dell XPS 9570 and that my Microsoft Bitlocker was disabled, I went about following a YouTube video that showed me how to remove the mainboard and flip it over so that I could replace the battery on the bottom left of the mainboard. (Why???? Did they put it under the bottom???). It was easy to unplug the old one and plug in the new one. (I did it fast so that I would not have to lose the BIOS settings.). I like that the new battery also has the adhesive pad. Then I had to figure out what to do with the cord…. As another review mentioned, the cord is rather long. After reassembling my iPad and starting it up, it booted right up after a nerve-racking longer than usual pause and asked me for the time and date for one last time. The dreaded job was done!!! I was so thrilled, I even braved bricking my laptop by updating my BIOS afterwards. I hope that this 3 to 8 year part lasts closer to the 8 years! All in all, this little battery seems to have been a great purchase!

Exactly what I needed for my Razer Blade 15 2018 Base Model. After changing the battery the restarting issues were gone.

Needed a replacement CMOS battery for my 2018 Razer Blade 15. Originally ordered a different one with the connector being to big to work, so I ordered this one instead. Perfect fit, and working great. It's nice not having to wait for my laptop to repeatedly turn itself on and off a few times before booting up anymore.

The CMOS battery (or as some folks call it the RTC (real-time clock) battery) is part of almost any computer, be it a laptop or desktop motherboard. This battery makes sure that the BIOS clock keeps time especially when the computer is powered down.RomeTech's ML1220 is an example of this and while there's probably nothing exciting to write about a CMOS battery, when trying to stick it inside of a laptop, crammed with other components, it's important to have the right battery.One suggestion I would recommend RomeTech include is a manual telling the installer that before install it, be gentle with plugging the battery in and out of the port it is in. (I kind of pushed a little to hard and the top of the port broke off, but fortunately the pints were still in place, and the battery wasn't damaged either. This was a superficial mistake that could easily be fixed with a little bit of Kapton tape (that yellow tape you see on other components).The other suggestion: tell users that they may have to twist the wires together (but not too tightly) so that the wires on the battery stay together and also reduce the amount of space used. (Even twisted together, this battery's cables might have been a little bit longer than the previous CMOS battery, so they might want to consider reducing the length of the wire by 50 to 100 millimeters). Maybe I'm just a little uncomfortable with the CMOS battery wires being so close to the laptop battery.Finally, it was wise to add an adhesive sticker so that the CMOS battery could be separated from any other components. The one that came with the laptop didn't have that. Then again, I don't think the laptop manufacture expected people to replace the hard drive or laptop battery when the user needed to do it. Hence the Torx bits and unibody design that they only want "technicians" to have access too. Replacing a CMOS battery should cost about as much as this one cost, and not "$1000" just so that the guy at the "Genius Bar" could try to sell you another computer. A jeweler wouldn't do that to you if you needed to replace the battery on an expensive watch.Overall, I am pleased with this product.

While it appears to work fine, the wire was a bit too long for the space. (Space in laptops is always at a premium.) I managed to cram it in there however. Ease of installation isn't really Rome Tech's problem. For that I blame Dell for requiring me to almost completely disassemble the laptop to access the CMOS battery. Replacement would have been substantially easier if Dell's designers had considered perhaps placing the battery on the *other* side of the motherboard. Sheesh...

Used this battery to replace my Razer Blade 15 (2020 Base) model's dead CMOS battery. My BIOS settings (like NVME drive boot order, for example) were being reset every time after unplugging from power, and the Blade disconnecting from its eGPU after sleep. Replacing the CMOS battery addressed all these weird issues.The existing battery is a ML1220, and this fit perfectly as a replacement. For a reasonable price, as well.
