Q: Does it beep or make noises when it detects electricity?

Yes, it does beep when current is detected, a long with the light change. If your is not beeping it may be on silent mode. Check instructions to disable silent mode.

Q: Will it work on electrical connections in a car?

I believe it is for A/C only. Not for D/C . Haven't tried it on D/C to find out. Note: A test light for D/C is what I use.

Q: Should the voltage tester fit all outlets? (The tip seems too fat for my 5-year old outlets.)

Fits old and new outlets just fine.

Q: How do you work the circuit tester

Tester works fine, the problem I have is that there is almost no sound.
