WiFi and Z-wave controller device, good stuff here!
I am not sure why I read bad reviews all over about this T-stat. Let me continue by saying that this T-stat is not for the average Joe. If only what you want is control your A/C system, you are wasting your money buying this item, get a 100 Dollars or less T-stat and you should be good to go. This T-stat is WiFi and Z-wave controller ready. This means, you can control most z-wave devices, like On/OFF switch, door sensors, door deadbolts, etc, etc. Per the manual, the Z-wave controller can control up to 230 devices! Holy Cow!Here is when gets complicated. For that you either use the iPhone/Android App, or the web interface. For example, the T-stat is not "dead zone " capable, but you can program an "automation" and bingo! I have one that does more or less this: if the temp is 80 degrees , turn on the A/C, if the temp is 78 degrees , turn off the A/C. Here you have two degrees that the A/C is idle. Got it? Most but most thermostat just keep turning on and off the A/C system with not even waiting for one degree in temp change. Wow! My body dont detects that change, it may detect 4 or 5 degrees temp change. So 2 degrees for me is OK.GeoFence. Nexia has all kind of "automations." I like the GeoFence. So I program one "automation" that if I leave the house and forgot to turn off the T-stat, the GeoFence will turn it off for me, at the same time, If I enter the GeoFence, it turns it on for me. Cool.I have another one that if I leave the house, a hallway switch is turned off, if I enter the GeoFence, the light is turned on. Of course, at night only. The limit if your imagination. What I dont like? The Iphone app shows one degree less that what you see on the T-stat display. Issue that can be corrected, that will be up to Nexia.Yes, they charge 10 Dollars per month if you add any Z-wave device, but you can control the T-stat for free. But 10 dollars a month to control 230 Z-wave devices? I am OK with that.UPDATE 07/12/16:Thermostat is performing solid. No hiccups. If you happen to have one, or thinking to buy one, there is a Menu option called "Service" inside this menu there is an option called "Technician Access," just press it for about 5 seconds, and bingo, you have access to more details. There are lots of new cool devices out there using the new Z-wave plus that this Thermostat does not support, but easy fix if Nexia update their software. This kind of suck that Nexia is not supporting them yet.

Slightly better than junk
Exactly the same as the thermostat that was installed with a new Trane duel fuel system about a year back. Works great. Requires an outside temperature sensor for the fuel switching function. This feature provides the option to select a temperature point for the system to switch from heating with the electric heat pump to heating with gas below the selected switchover temperature. Provides for monitoring and setting the thermostat from the screen of the thermostat or the screen of a computer or smart phone. These have turned out not to be reliable for me. The original from Trane installed along with a new system developed a problem. The first time the dealer replaced it under warranty. The second time I purchased this one to replace the unit installed by the dealer as a replacement. This one I installed using the same exact settings as the original and it worked great for a year then it started locking up and would do so in whatever mode it was in at the time. I simply turn the power off to the system which powers the thermostat, wait a few minutes and power back up and it would begin working again. Last week while out of town for several days it locked up with the heat on. My alarm system notified me of a high temperature in the house, over 80 degrees. I accessed the thermostat through the app online and the thermostat would not respond. I had to call a nearby Grandson to go to my house and power off the heating system so the thermostat would reset. Exploring alternatives to this unreliable device.Update, now the third is giving trouble. It has a history feature and for the last several months the outside temperature history is incorrect. The correct outside temperature displays correctly on the main screen but recording the incorrect. Power it off and it will begin working correctly then develop the same problem. Both from Trane installed by the authorized dealer failed so I thought I would just purchase a new one and now it has a problem. Several times it locks up and the power has to be turned off and on. When that happens when away I have to get someone to go to my home and do that. My third Trane system and purchased it because of the reliability of the other two. The third has had no problems with the system, just the thermostat they provede.

Trane compatibility
Having worked for a Trane strategic partner I can verify that this thermostat will allow the proper Trane split system to operate at the highest level it was engineered for.

My second
I bought this to replace one in my stairwell that was damaged while movers carried furniture. It still functioned perfect on the app but the screen did not display properly. This is a nice thermostat and the app has many features that I now find necessary

A great thermostat if your looking to replace your old one ...
A great thermostat if your looking to replace your old one as this thermostat also has built into it a "bridge" that allow you to connect up to 230 other z wave compatiable items such as NEXIA or Schlage Front Door Locks, LED bulbs, etc. If you had to pay for a bridge in addition to the thermostat, you would have to spend another $80 or more for the bridge.
