Great for cooking, and love that it is shelf-stable without the flavor of the can. This milk has NOT changed the flavor of any of my recipes so far. We don't enough milk to always need a carton so this is a practical substitute. Hubby tried drinking one by itself with a couple of cookies and he says it's okay, and drinkable as-is. Better than canned or powdered, but still not the same as fresh - so 4 stars instead of 5. But, if you are looking for an alternative to canned milk that's much better than powdered, this works.

Love Horizon Shelf Stable 1% Low-fat Chocolate Milk!! Walmart quit stocking it, and I couldn’t find it anywhere; I finally found it on Amazon and was thrilled. The shelf life is amazing and not having to refrigerate it until ready to use is great and so easy to use!! I wanted milk I could keep around without it going bad but that tasted better than canned milk. I think this one tastes like a cross between the cold milk I buy from the dairy and canned milk. I wanted to have milk around for my hot coffee and hot tea without using up the dairy milk I use for drinking and on cereal. I found it in Horizon Organic Shelf Stable milk. I'm not someone who would be satified putting canned milk on cold cereal or in coffee and tea just because of the taste. But this milk tastes better than canned milk especially if it is ice cold which helps the flavor.
