Amazing comfort and quality!
These closed-back AKG headphones are incredible. I’ve never been able to wear other over-ear headphones for more than 15 minutes without feeling uncomfortable. Most brands I’ve tried are too heavy or tight, and they end up making the top of my head and my ears sore. If you have a sensitive head, these are absolutely for you. I’ve owned another pair of AKGs in the past that were great, but these are even better. I mainly use them for playing shooter games with a separate mic, and the sound quality is perfect for distinguishing different types of noises and pinpointing where they’re coming from. They block out just enough background noise to keep me focused, but not so much that I can’t hear my cats causing chaos in the background. I wore them for over five hours straight, and by the end, I actually forgot I even had them on—they’re that comfortable. They’re super lightweight, the build feels solid, and the audio quality is more than impressive. I even started using them for music now, and they sound fantastic. Definitely money well spent!

Pretty great all round headphones. Pretty fantastic value
Really enjoying these, as others have said, they definitely have a clamp factor but I'm confident it'll lessen over time. Aside from that they are pretty comfortable; it could just be the clamping but at the moment it feels like the sides of my ears are touching the drivers slightly, but again that could clear up. They are way lighter than I expected so there is no real pressure on the top of your head. I actually wanted to find out how light these were so I weighed them and they weigh nothing. Literally 0 in every unit of measurement. Other minuses that have been mentioned are the very long cable, which most people will find to be entering the realm of absurdity. To the poor reviewer whose cable got tangled up in the wheels of their chair until they threw the headphones at a wall in rage; thank you, you've inspired me to coil the cable and tie it up so it's effectively 1.5 metres rather than 300. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I've been making s***ty electronic music in my bedroom for the past two years so I know a little bit about sounds and stuff. These sound really fantastic to my ear, although my only comparison points are consumer grade in ear headphones and a pair of Marley Liberate XL's so keep that in mind. The XL's are pretty good but they lean noticeably towards lower frequencies, having Marley's signature warm, bassy sound. These on the other hand are supposed to be neutral so I was worried that with my electronic tendencies there wouldn't be enough bass to satisfy me. Strangely that is not the case at all, the bass doesn't sound much quieter than my Marley's, it's punchier and a hundred times more detailed. As a little side note, the fact that the bass didn't disappoint me lends a little weight to the man who said these had very bloated bass. I don't have a pair of headphones that I know are fully neutral so I can't say for myself whether the bass is actually bloated, however I can say that the bass never feels overpowering and doesn't smother the mids or highs, all frequencies sound incredibly detailed to me, especially the highs. In fact, the highs are a tad harsh in certain songs with particularly harsh percussion, I've mainly experienced this with trap and haven't had any issues with jazz, rock or old school hip hop,– only electronic music. On the note of highs I haven't heard any noticeable sibilance excepting during "Heartbreak" by Yelawolf. They aren't particularly portable, but I sort of like the purity of the fact that don't really do anything except play music. No in line mic or controls, no bells or whistles just good music, which is a pretty beautiful approach and embodied by a very beautiful pair of headphones. These look absolutely stunning, despite the fact that the materials look (and probably are, given the price) cheap. I'll definitely be keeping AKG in mind for future purchases on account of their appearanc alone. I think that pretty much sums up this review. I like these a lot and have been primarily listening to music over the past couple of days to hear all of the details I missed before, everything sounds so much clearer and more alive than before. Would definitely recommend these cans :)

These cans are good for the price but...
For the price they're a decent set of headphones. Comfortable, but sound-wise there is a definite emphasis in the 200Hz to 400Hz range and a little damping of highs, which leads to a small carpeted-wall room sound overall. Detail is not there in the higher frequencies and the whole sound is somewhat muted and thumps in the lower mid and bass areas. I love AKG, and swear by my K701s, but the "Pro Audio" in the title of the K72 is a misnomer if you ask me. But then, there is about $150 difference in price between them, so this proves the old adage, you get what you pay for. I'd say good for general listening and hearing yourself talk if you're doing a podcast or something, but I wouldn't suggest making critical EQ decisions based on what these are telling your ears. To be thorough I revisited this review, and as I sit here listening to a few extremes of music taste and quality as I write this update, I'm still hearing definite emphasis in the bass area and muted highs. My music samples of choice were Steely Dan, Aja, some Hall & Oats selections, Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie. It may sound strange but it's telling. To be honest, Nine Inch Nails and White Zombie sound pretty good with these headphones but the bass response is still very pronounced, and once things are underway the muted quality takes over. The highly compressed quality of the more modern music helps, but the muffled effect is still evident. As some other reviewers mentioned, good for general listening. Good quality for the price I'd say.

Best budget closed back headphones.
Can’t beat the price and reliability of these. The design is made with inexpensive materials but is very sturdy. The ear cuffs fit super well over ears, even bigger ears, and the headphones are so light that I never experience ear pain or any discomfort even after 4+hours of wearing these. The sound quality is great and I’ve mixed and mastered on these quite a bit.

GREAT HEADPHONES - perfect for music production
They arrived in perfect condition, and even before the expected date. The sound quality is delicious, just what you need if you're making music.- they gives you real sound, no boosts. The design is very fancy (will look great on your desk) and they're surprisingly light (you can wear them for hours without getting tired of them).

Good value
I listen to old AKG 601's every day at home, and I like them mainly because they're comfortable and neutral-sounding, I can wear them happily for a long time. They sound similar to the more-popular 701. I have a pretty big head, so the AKG headband design works better for me than "normal" headbands, which all seem too small. I've gotten used to AKG's "polite" bass response, but I've never really liked it. Looking for a closed-back equivalent for the noisier environment at work, I wanted the comfort of the AKG headband, with acceptable sound quality, at a much lower price point, so the K92 fit the bill. The main surprises with these phones: 1. While the design is similar, it's not the same -- the cups are a little smaller, the pads are a little thinner, and the headband is a little springier, so it's not quite the comfort revelation that the 601 design is. It's still comfortable, though, with the same lightness I love in the 601. 2. The sound is completely different: much higher sensitivity, *much* more bass, which I consider more realistic. It's not the analytical AKG sound at all. Compared to my 601's these are also quite harsh in the mid/high vocal range, e.g. Norah Jones sounds like a different person, like she's yelling. 3. Less isolation than I had hoped for. I suspect it's a trade-off with lightness. These are better than open headphones but not a complete solution. Mainly high frequencies are blocked, but lower frequencies, including speech, are not that attenuated.

Really Great headphones for a reasonable price
These sound great, are very comfortable, and seem to weigh nothing. Overall they are great.

Just needed some simple corded headphones ...
Just needed some simple corded headphones. Have at least 1/2 dozen wired buds & several bluetooth buds & full size headphones - but - didn't have a decent wired headphone. Always loved AKG since my first pair 45 !!! years ago when my older brother bought me a pair of AKG K-241 Studio's ... wore those completely out & had to finally toss them when 1/2 the drivers gave out on one side & I couldn't repair them. Over the years - had several pairs of K-240's which I love - but - just wanted to try some thing else from AKG & these fit that bill. GREAT sound / super comfy - no issues over all - nice touch to be able to have a 1/8 plug & adapter for 1/4 applications.
