Bought this for youngest grandchild and on opening the older grandson loved it and promptly tried on jacket and used binoculars so went online and ordered a second set for him . Great value and jacket and hat well made - looked at another version but decided to buy same again as what he liked about jacket were the pen holders which he could fit magnifying glass into .

Bought for my granddaughters 8th birthday and she loved it. Plenty of kit to keep her bug catching. She liked the jacket with plenty of pockets to put everything in. Only issue was the cord on the hat had only been pushed in, so I had to sew it in as it came away as soon as she put on hat.

Really good little kit, only problem is the small kinetic torch doesn’t hold charge.

Bought this for my 3 year old grandson for his birthday. Good value for money. Jacket strong lots of pockets. He absolutely loved all the accessories that came with it, I did buy some Hexbugs to go with it to add more interest as his birthday was in January not many bugs about at that time of the year. Great buy would highly recommend.

This was a gift for my nephew and he loves it. He has had lots of fun using it and, as far as I know, it is all in working order and good quality.

Bought for my grandson last Christmas, but still very popular and still being used. Loves going out exploring and all the things in this kit enable him to that whilst 'looking the part' at the same time. Good value.

This outdoor explorer kit comes well presented in a fun box, the image looks quite anime and shows an explorer. There’s no other information on the box but the theme is definitely well presented.Upon opening the box it is jam packed with everything a little explorer could want. The outfit is especially nice and children that love to dress up will especially enjoy this. The size is about right for the age range described (I’d say 6-8 years old). Sadly the hat has a hole which is disappointing as apart from the hole it feels really good quality and ‘dress up’ aside will be excellent at keeping the sun off your little one as they play out.The kit is fun, I personally wouldn’t feel too comfortable putting any little creature in the bug tongs but if you can get something to crawl into the bug jar you can have a good look at it before you put it back where it lives.The binoculars are good quality especially the rubber edges around the view holes they are nice and soft and won’t irritate sensitive skin.The compass sadly isn’t accurate, maybe because it has air bubbles in. It is about 3 points out compared to the compass on my phone but I’m sure used as a toy it will be fun to use.The net has a telescopic rod which extends to approximately 3ft, excellent if you want to explore rock pools.The torch feels as good a quality as any camping torch I’ve ever purchased. The mechanism to charge it is good and strong and it provides a bright beam of light.The Backyard Explorer booklet is very childish, my daughter who is nearly six reads very well and a more informative insect identifying booklet would have been better.All of the accessories fit well into the carry bag making it excellent to take on days out exploring.A very good set, shame about the hole in the hat and inaccurate compass but none of that will spoil the fun of using it to a child. At £25.99 I think you get a lot for your money buying each piece individually would be very expensive. A good set that will instigate a lot of play and learning.
