Is the input ok for 12v? The pictures say 6-9v, the description says 6-12v?

I recently ordered some of these so I just checked. The board itself says "DC in, 7-12 volts". Please keep in mind that some fully charged 12 volt batteries can produce a voltage of 13+ volts. I've not tested so I cannot say for sure. If you are regulated @ 12 volts you should be fine.

Are these good for testing guitar pedal circuits?

These are good for any low current application where the requirements are 3.3V - 5V input. These allow a 9V battery to be used to supply the proper input power to your circuit. Hopefully this helps.
