My kids really enjoy these
These work exactly as pictured. They were very easy to install and perfect for my 6 year old to get the little boost needed to get in the tree. I'll admit they wobble a little when climbing, but it didn't stop my 50 year old uncle from using them! We leave them out on the tree 24/7 and they so far have held up great. For this lower price point than some of the competitors I would for sure recommend these to a friend.

Safe and dangerous?
I got these because my kids love to club the tree in our backyard. I was thinking they made it safer for climbing then my daughter said it was great because now they could climb higher so now I’m worried it’s more dangerous.😬 Still a great toy!

Build quality seems fine; design for the interface with the tree is not good
Overall quality seems good, including for the ratchet mechanism. The holds seem sturdy and are a good size for a range of ages of kids. As outlined below, a few issues make this set seem pretty mediocre, mostly because they result in the holds twisting significantly downward when someone stands/hangs on them. That said, I haven't seen any other strap-hold sets that don't have these design flaws, so maybe this is as good as it gets (at least on Amazon). - Most notably, the straps are not nested into the hold at all where they pass between the hold and the tree. As a result, the hold can't be tightened into really good contact with the tree - the strap necessarily gets in the way. To worsen the problem, the straps connect to the handles via two very small holes, which tend to twist the strap and therefore double its thickness between the hold and the tree. So there's almost invariably a gap between big parts of the hold and the tree, no matter how much you tighten the strap, and the holds twist downward to close that gap when loaded. - The straps are maybe an inch wide. This makes it easier for the holds to twist the strap when the holds are loaded (think physics class and force moments), and therefore lets the holds themselves twist all the more. - The smaller size of the strap also concentrates the tightening force on the tree trunk. Accordingly, damage to the tree bark seems more likely than with a wider design, particularly when the holds are twisting during use (as above). Some felt or other tree protector is probably enough to help, although that has it's own issues. - The backs of the holds contact the tree along a flat, narrow rim. Accordingly, for a tree with a smaller diameter or rougher bark (e.g., an oak) it can be hard to get good contact between the tree and the hold, which further worsens the twisting issue.

Worked great for my 4 year old!
Bought this for my daughter for her 4th birthday and they have been a hit. She really likes being able to climb the tree in our front yard. I like that we can adjust them to suit her age and we can move them easily. They work just like regular ratchet straps and the hand holds are surprisingly sturdy with the straps tightened down.

Wish I had these when I was a kid!
These are so easy to use and so much fun for the grandchildren. We put them around an oak tree. I was a little leery about their stability but I was able to climb the tree. I weigh 125 lbs. and they didn’t move or sag. You can also use them on a rock climbing wall without the ratchet straps. I’m thinking about buying a second set to expand the fun!

Great product
We used it on 4x4 for now. Going to move it to the tree house. My 8 y.o. loves to climb on it.
