SlimPort HDMI Adapter SP1003 - Connect MyDP Enabled Mobile Devices to Any TV

The product does exactly what it is supposed to.I just give it 4 stars because it does not include a HDMI cable or a micro usb cable (for charging the phone while connected to TV)There is no installation required. Just plug in the adapter to the TV and mobile and I got the screen mirrored on TV.Did not experience any lagg on the mirrored screen at all. Full screen movies work great. Video and Sound is played on the connected TV.The adapter is small, perfect for traveling. It feels its made from good material.I did notice that the screen mirrored on TV did not output any border on the image, which made some of the image being blocked by the TV physical format but i think I can solve this by reducing the HDMI extension channel on TV to reduce a little of the screen size.Excellent product. Worth the price!

There is "generally" no lag (I will explain later). I use this to connect to my TV and play games and watch movies. I connect it to my rooted Nexus 7 FHD. I use a PS3 controller via the Sixaxis app from the play store. There is NO lag when doing this at all. I have played NOVA 3, GTA Vice City, Asphalt 8, a few others and some emulators with GREAT SUCCESS.Now let me explain the generally. I have a 26" TV in my bedroom and it connected with no problem and NO lag. It is a walmart brand ILO TV and it out performs any other TV I have EVER bough. I have a 32" Panasonic in my living room and when I hook this up to it there is a NOTICEABLE lag. But then again, I had to download an app to change the resolution on my tablet before the TV would recognize it.With some testing, here is what I found out:-The lag is NOT caused by the app, as I used the app the change the resolution and hooked it up to my bedroom TV and there is once again NO LAG.-The lag is not cause by the controller. Plays fine on the bedroom TV.-Now this is what I didn't expect... The lag is also present on the screen of the Nexus 7. As in it's NOT caused by the HDMI cable. I tried multiple cables by the way and used swapped cables with the TV'sSo, if you have LAG while using this device, IT MIGHT BE YOUR TV. Next time I am buying a TV, I am taking my Slimport adapter and my Nexus 7 FHD with me and hooking it up to every TV I am interested in.

The hardware works well when the connection is first made, but it tends to loosen, especially in vehicles and with laptops and then the screen goes blank. This is more than annoying, this slimport adapter is definitely a lot worse than the original series, which never comes loose. I have one of each.

I bought this adapter after trying out another slimport adapter from Kanex.This one works well whereas the Kanex adapter (I tried 2 of them on 2 different Nexus 7 tablets) would fail after a few minutes of use.Both tablets were running Android 4.3 (JSS15Q).Picture and sound quality appeared OK though I was only able to test on a hotel tv whilst on a business trip to the states.The charging feature "works", though the tablet shows as charging in USB mode rather than AC mode, drawing 342mA of current when idle.However once the tablet has do do something such as stream content, often the battery will start to discharge.This does mean that you'll need to have enough charge to start with before watching a movie, and that having the tablet plugged into a charger whilst doing so will only slow down the battery discharge.Leaving the tablet sleeping when plugged into this adapter does however fully charge the battery, albeit slower than plugging in the charger directly.I would recommend getting this one if you have a Nexus 7 2013, as it's made by the slimport chip maker so it (or the previous model) will most likely be the reference adapter that gets used when devices are developed.

I'm very disappointed with this product and the fact that my (stock) LG Nexus devices (4, 5, & 7) don't appear to have the functionality they are advertised to have. I tried the device with 3 "compatible" Nexus devices to output over hdmi to a Samsung TV, LG TV, and a 1080p computer monitor. Each of the displays are approximately 4-5 years old. I also tried multiple hdmi cables, including 1.4, which were all confirmed to work with other devices and tried passing it through a 1 year old AV receiver. I read through the other reviews and spent some time troubleshooting. The best I could do was get confirmation from the Google Play Movies & TV app that the devices were attempting to output video over hdmi, but all my nexus devices would just hang there and then the app crashes. All displays received no signal from the slimport.Based on some of the other reviews, it appears Slimport may only work on new TVs... or a lot of defective units are being shipped. There is no documentation with the unit, so of course there is no information regarding compatibility. This is a very simple product with a simple task, so documentation shouldn't be necessary and compatibility shouldn't be an issue. I've never had an hdmi issue in the past, so it's unacceptable for this to not work with a 4-5 year old TV. This is also the third generation of this product, so what going on?
