A great heavy duty receptacle
I purchased this because the 15 amp receptacle for my audio system was dated and a hospital receptacle was suggested. At the time my thought was "it couldn't hurt", but come to find out the 15 amp receptacle was a bit, well, melted. The new 20 amp receptacle handles my system nicely, I even experienced an improvement in my dual subwoofers which I can now turn to a higher volume without distortion so I'm guessing the old, damaged receptacle was limiting current. It does require a bit more force to insert or remove a plug so be certain to hold the receptacle when removing a plug. For audio systems this falls into the "it couldn't hurt" category, but if your old receptacle is subpar you could experience better sound. This old audiophile is certainly thrilled.

Leviton 8300-W 20-Amp, 125-Volt
The Leviton 8300-W-20-amp by far is the best 20-amp 125V receptacle I have installed, and it is durable and the plug retention and connections exceed any of the $5.00 dollar plugs you can buy locally. The plug face is strong and durable. The price is worth it when you see the quality and peace of mind you are buying.

Excellent quality duplex outlet
The main functional reasons you'd want a Leviton extra heavy duty hospital grade outlet are pretty easy to state. The backstrap is nickel plated brass as are the electrical contacts. Hospital grade outlets are also subject to a stricter specification for pullout strength than are regular outlets. Those two things are the main reasons you'd potentially want a hospital grade outlet over the equivalent extra heavy duty industrial grade one (model 5362-W). The industrial spec outlet is very similar except that the backstrap and contacts are exposed brass instead of being nickel plated. Either extra heavy duty class outlet is a big upgrade from a regular duty commercial grade outlet.Overall, build quality is very good. It's the sort of outlet that will likely last longer than the 10 year light duty residential service life that contractor grade outlets are designed for. I don't know anyone who expects to replace their electrical system after a decade, so it seems weird to me to buy the cheap stuff. These are a good outlet at about 7-10 dollars each. When the price is higher than that, it's best to wait or check other vendors.

Cheap insurance for good sound.
Installed this for my high current Adcom 2-channel Amp and Arcam AVR (also high current). I'm not going to claim that it made ANY difference in the sound, because I do not believe it did. However, it did remove any weak link in the chain of equipment AND it provides an amazingly stout physical connection with the prongs of my power cords at a very reasonable price. If anything, the cords/outlet are more child-safe because it takes an absolute man-hand to yank them out of the outlet now. It's an inexpensive way to ensure there are no shorts or poor electrical connections. If anybody can detect a difference between this outlet and another (aside from iso'd-ground outlets), then that indicates there was a material issue with the other outlet (incorrectly terminated/attached wires, broken wire clamp, etc.). Still, excellent quality at an excellent price.
